hellO and sorry for being INSANELY late to the party !!! i have had the worst and busiest week but i will be able to be online starting tomorrow !! in the meantime, have marleys backstory !!

Marley Simmons was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, but it wasn’t where she belonged. That’s what everyone had always told her. Everyone in the Simmons family was musically gifted, sure, but Marley was different. Her mom and dad both played in a local band that was lucky to scrape together two gigs a month, and her older sister Mallory really took to the cello. But Marley’s gifts extended to anything and everything music related. Not only was she singing before she could even talk, but she could play nearly every instrument she picked up, and she had a real gift for songwriting as well. And on top of all her talent, she had this infectious energy that everyone seemed to be drawn to. As a child, she never really had the /warmest/ personality, but everyone wanted to be her friend. And even though she was always the rowdiest, most rambunctious child in the room, her teachers all thought she was a hoot. People really were just drawn to her, so Marley had no doubt in her mind that someday, she’d make it big.

Things in Marley’s life took a sharp turn right after she turned ten. Another local Portland band was asked to open for the Talking Heads on their tour, but they were down a lead singer. They offered Marley’s mom the spot as long as she was okay with leaving behind her family and quitting the band (formerly known as /High Five/) she’d spent nearly a decade being a part of. She jumped at the chance, and while she kept in touch with her family for the first few months of the tour, they eventually stopped hearing from her at all. Marley, Mallory, and their dad were all heartbroken, but they kept moving forward. What else could they do?

From then on out, Marley’s life looked a lot different. Her dad was a bartender, meaning he wasn’t around most nights. And even when he /was/ home, he wasn’t really there. Not mentally, at least. Seeing his wife abandon him and their children really changed him, and he wasn’t the tuned in father he always had been. So Marley spent the remainder of her childhood being raised by her older sister. And she became even more determined than ever to make something of herself. Part of her wanted to be able to provide for her dad and sister after everything they’d all been through. But the other part really just wanted to be able to say she found more success in the business than her mom ever did.
