Hearing his sister’s voice from the hallway, he shook his head to the people in the room he’d gone in accidentally and rolled his eyes. He headed towards the direction of her voice and found her in a room across the hall. “I’m the doofus? You’re projecting again, Mar.” He said with a smirk.

━━ “I’m projecting?? Your arse was in some other person’s room like a doofus pervert, you’re lucky I’ve only kept it to doofus,” Marlene quipped, throwing a pillow at him, “how many people have you PEEPED on anyways??”

“This is… Not the place I meant to go to.” Teddy realized audibly. “Sorry to interrupt.”

Hearing her brother’s voice from across the hall, Marlene jolted up from her bed and poked her head out to the direction of his voice, “I’m OVER HERE, doofus!!”

“Surprisingly, I don’t think that’s a bad rule at all,” and it was true, as she wasn’t in the habit of ever being agreeable with anyone. “In fact, I practice that pretty often.”

The girl’s voice broke through even amongst the murmurs of the dozens of people that surrounded him. Rex grimaced, recognizing the language he’d grown up around in Brazil but had long gone without hearing a native speaker voice. He smirked as the victim of her verbal assault scurried away like a hit puppy. You couldn’t approach someone like her for no reason, and he wouldn’t. He stood still, inhaling the smoke from his cigarette.

Marlene was slightly proud of herself for instilling the fear of Dios into the man who scurried away, unsurprised she was still able to. Leaning against the doorway, she started to smell smoke. Not just any smoke, cigarette smoke. Disgusting. Her eyes surveyed the area until they landed on the hand that belonged to the man she had been observing earlier. Sighing, she walked over, attempting to hit the cigarette from his hand, “LISTEN!! IF YOU WANT TO DIE THANKS TO THOSE CANCER STICKS, FINE!! But that’s not how I’m gonna go, cabrón!!”

Livia visibly paled, mouth opening and closing like fish for a few moments as she tried to figure out what to say. “I - I didn’t - I wouldn’t - please don’t do that,” she spluttered, close to tearing up. 

Her mouth prepared for a comeback the minute the other started speaking but what Marlene didn’t anticipate were the tears. Marlene prided herself on being direct and upfront but not on making people cry who didn’t do a damn thing. “Uh, um, good. DON’T DO IT. Cool,” she stiffened, the previous angry look on her face gone curious. “Are you crying??”

“a fucking skewer? we’ve got a regular gordon ramsay here, everyone!” miles grin was almost infectious, and marlene was small enough that he could easily sweep her up over his shoulder, “they say you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, y’know—-any last words?”

“It’s a good thing I’m not trying to catch any fucking flies, then, isn’t it??” He wasn’t going to do it, he couldn’t. If he did, he’d be brave -- or maybe just foolish. Marlene prepared her legs to run or fight, also squinting her eyes at Miles trying to be INTIMIDATING. “ Any last words?? I actually know some curses in different languages that you probably couldn’t find a counter curse to, so, I think I should be asking YOU that.”

He felt like he hovered a foot above the army of students making their way for Maladh’s great hall or courtyard or whatever the hell it was the school had to accommodate such a large number of visitors. Exhilarated predictions and empty introductions could be heard every few seconds, both things he knew he wouldn’t waste time with. Rex instinctively headed for the back of the room once their tiny journey had concluded. He arched his back against a stone wall and stared with focused intent towards the front where he assumed a welcome would take place before a feast, all predictable. “Rex,” he barked at the person who had appeared next to him looking to engage. “That’s probably all you need to know,” he added. “Didn’t come here to make friends.”

A short snort like laugh came out of Marlene the minute she saw the interaction end the way it did -- with Rex introducing himself and the other person taken aback by his honesty that they seemed to get offended and skulk away. Covering her mouth, she tried to put a more serious expression on her face and divert her attention away from what had happened, her body running into the person in front of her and knocking them over. “Fucking hell, how the fuck did I knock you over, guey?? Pendejo feo,” even thought it was her fault completely, she had no problem passing the blame, ESPECIALLY seeing as she was so little it should’ve been impossible for her to knock the person two feet taller than her over so easily. “You must be fucked up if a girl who isn’t even five feet can knock you over so easily, fucking fuck. Stay away from alcohol, please.”
