It was rather cute seeing Trey getting worked up for the potential of getting kicked out of the library of all places.
“Don’t worry, I have your back.” She nodded. “Just keep doing you, I’m sure you’ll be fine.”
He cleared his throat, still slightly flustered.
“You have my thanks. This is my last safe place when I need to get away from Nine, you know. Nine and the Crystarium? I certainly do not see those two mixing at all.”
Ah good, he breathed, he’s speaking in smaller chunks again. The dealer gave a brief nod of acknowledgement, fingers lightly rapping against the spine of his tome.
“Nothing of the sort; their moogle struck up a conversation when I went to check a particular stock in the arms’ lab. I just thought that Mother is likely designated to further studies on those specialized eidolons we used in the Liberation Conflict, so…”
“I see, I see!” Trey had never really spoken to any of the Moogles aside from Moglin simply due to the fact that they were always muttering about their own classes. He had noted that they all wore different outfits, some of them quite interesting.
“I will definitely have to hunt down that Moogle and have a word or seven with them once I get the chance. It has been far too busy recently to really do anything of the sort.”
“It is eight in the god damn mornin’ an if you keep this up it’s gonna be the exact same as the damn battlefield.” she grunted, pinching the bridge of her nose. The reaper had only been in there to gather some quick information for the assignment she’d left to hand in late, and right now she was regretting it.
“So shut it! For five damn seconds”
He knew that Sice was a rather violent person --or at least pretended to be-- and as such was quite used to her verbal threats.
“Now now, Sice. On mission days we have to get up much earlier than this. Has your body not adjusted to the idea of mornings? You could always have some coffee; that perks me up when I need the boost.”
“I hate to break it to ya…” She turned to look at the bulletin board, turning him to face it. She pointed to the passive aggressive notice posted by the institution. “I’m actually not.”
“I heard Quon got the boot earlier.”
He stiffened at the thought of Quon getting the boot for speaking in the Crystarium; if there was anyone that spent more time in here than he himself, it would certainly be Quon, and for him to get kicked out...
“Please do not tell the librarian, Seven. I cannot afford to slip in my academics and I also enjoy reading... It would be devastating to me!”

A plume of dust came from the ages old tome, a hand swatting the dust away before risking an unflattering sneeze in the middle of the library. She wasn’t too far from the archer, her head turning before she had a chance to speak—and it was too late…she had to listen.
Not that she had too much trouble listening to the male, she tried making a game out of picking out what topics stood out from the others. After years with being friends with the scholarly archer it was almost a game with every topic or discussion that involved him.
However it was a long day, and it was really difficult to hold up this conversation when the male was speaking at a chocobo’s pace. Seven could only nod, and nod and nod again. It was then she heard silence…sweet sweet silence.
“You know the librarian is on the hunt for noise makers?”
He paused, a hand raised in the air after she made her point.
Was the librarian really on the hunt for noise makers? What if he was no longer permitted to step foot in the Crystarium? Then how would he ever get his fix for knowledge? He cleared his throat in an attempt to not look disturbed by her words.
“I find it hard to believe that someone who spends as much time here and is as studious as I could get kicked out merely for speaking up once or twice. You are just trying to scare me.”
He was there to return a book, and wasn’t this place supposed to encourage silence in the first place? Azure switched from side to side, noting the eyes glaring in their direction due to the new excess of chatter; hand rose instantly with hushing motion, for may the crystals bless him with speaking a few decibels lower at least.
I can’t keep up with you. Oh, how the smaller blond refrained from using the book in his hand to lightly bop the archer o’er the head as if such would act like a pause button and allow for the mass of information to amass for any sort of confabulation to continue, though as usual did he think such measures were, in fact, too much. Thus as if looking through muddled lenses, his brows lowered, waiting for but a single important detail of the other’s ramblings to catch, and with the next break for breath,
“I don’t think Mother is the one to pose such a theory to. If anything, try asking Class Eleventh’s moogle, since I’m sure at least one among their class’ ranks will find it interesting enough to study, and he’s the one in charge of their budgeting from what I heard.”
Now here was someone that Trey knew would listen to the ideas that he had brought to attention. He thought about it for a few moments, the gears in his mind turning, his eyes almost sparkling at the idea.
“Why, I never even thought about asking Class Eleventh or their moogle! Once again, you have offered me a wonderful piece of advice and I intend to make a visit over there during the next free time we are given.”
Nine knew it was a mistake to set foot in the Crystarium in the first place. Nothing good ever came from the Crystarium. Nine always got into more trouble than he needed to whenever he was in the bloody Crystarium. And today was indeed no different when he accidentally got too close to Trey in all of his reading glory.
“Ugh! Shut tha’ hell up already! Ain’t no need fer all tha! This s’posed ta be a quiet place, ain’t it?!”
No one around here ever seemed to appreciate just how much Trey had to say, the blonde trying not to let it bother him too much.
“Please, Nine. You and I both know that so long as you are not too loud, talking in the Crystarium is permitted.”
Disgusting. Abso-fucking-lutely disgusting. No human should have to endure such an awful torture, every syllable echoing in her head like a rusty nail slowly wedging in her ear. Like nails down a chalkboard it was, and unfortunately for him this was not one of those days she had mentally prepared for “You.”
a pause
“shut your mouth.”
heavy breaths, attempting to hold in her anger though failing awfully
“Before I absolutely fucking wreck you”
“My word...” He was honestly thrown off guard by her response, though he honestly shouldn’t have been considering the fact he knew she never really cared for his...extended amounts of talking.
“There is no need for violence, Sice. We’re in the Peristylium, not on the battlefield.”

It is with a loud thump and a satisfied smile that Trey closed the tome he had been holding. While he appreciated the vast amount of books that were in the Crystarium, there was still that thirst for knowledge that left his fingers itching to pick up another one right after he had closed another.
He walked towards the shelves with the now unnecessary book, his left hand brushing against the spines of the volumes housed there, trying to find the place where he had retrieved it from. He muttered to himself the titles listed on the spines, stopping in his tracks when he found one the matching books.
Once he self-administered mission was fulfilled, he turned away from the bookshelf and lifted a hand to rest on his chin idly.
“Now...If only I could find someone to share my new-found knowledge with. I know that Mother loves to hear the things I have to say, but ever since we came here she’s been awfully busy.”
Just when he thought he’d left to his thoughts alone, he looked around him and locked eyes on a familiar target, closing the distance. He didn’t even acknowledge them properly before beginning one of his infamous rambles.
“My, how the time flies when you’re reading a book, would you not agree? I found this very interesting volume today that completely absorbed my attention to the point that I forgot where I even was. It is amazing the sorts of things that finding a good book can do for you. Perhaps do you think that the reason so many cadets are here in the Crystarium is to forget about the fact that we are fighting a very real war and any day could be their last? Or perhaps do you think it could be so that they may study for an upcoming test? I have found myself wondering these things recently every since we found ourselves here at the Peristylium. --Oh, but don’t think that I am trying to be too pessimistic, please! I simply find myself thinking about the different possible things that other people could be thinking of. Which brings me to another thought of mine; do you think that the l’Cie are able to read minds? Obviously, they share an important connection to the Crystal and it issues orders to them in their minds so there is a sort of telekinetic connection there... but do you think that maybe the rest of us have telekinetic abilities that lie dormant and untapped? I suppose that the Magic Society is too busy doing research on Eidolons for us to summon that they cannot simply take the time to indulge in such theories, but if I posed it to them the next time I go to visit Mother, would they at least think about it for a moment? Ah! I am truly fascinated by the potential that humans possess and I wish that I could take the time to explore it myself, but of course I am much too preoccupied with the homework we have been given and also my pursuit of becoming a scholar should we all survive the war. I quite look forward to all the possible outcomes in front of us, but naturally I am slightly afraid as well. That is why we must all work together in order to get through this and make sure to please Mother! I am positive she would be quite pleased with all of our accomplishments--”
It just never ends, his voice droning on and on.

A hand reached up to touch his forehead aided by the leverage from the tips of her toes. “Maybe you’re just gonna…you know! Get sick. Like BLARGH!”
"I would much prefer if that were not the case...."
"OH!!! You’re not the only one i’ve heard sayin that stuff, I think something huge is gonna happen cause everyones super on edge!"
"it upsets my tummy…"
"Has it really that way? I had no idea that others had been saying the same things that I have...Perhaps there is something we should be preparing for, but we just do not know it yet."
