You werenât the most careful person, especially when walking through the city streets. You were always tripping over thin air, almost as if you didnât know how to control your own feet, like a child. You felt stupid and couldnât really understand how you had ended up in that situation: sitting with your right foot bandaged, waiting for Son to arrive, after a small argument between the two of you about whether or not he should pick you up from the hospital.
It didnât take long for the man to show up, since the training center wasnât far from there, and he was just leaving after finishing practice. He was clearly worried, which alerted some of the players who had noticed the strange way Son had answered the phone in the locker roomâtheyâd even asked why he looked like that and immediately learned about the incident involving you.
The hospital wasnât crowded, only a few patients that you overheard by accident while waiting, which made your care quick. As soon as you saw Heung-min stepping through the glass door, you gave him an apologetic smile, hoping you hadnât messed up his training.
âThank you so much for taking care of her,â Son said, flashing his charming, killer smile as he thanked the nurse who stood beside you in the wheelchair, the nurse who had stayed with you the entire time.
The nurse just smiled and headed toward a large door where patients were waiting, going to check some files on the counter.
Your cheeks flushed red remembering the conversation youâd had earlier about the man, talking about how he was always affectionate and helpful, and how the nurse had said you were lucky to have found someone as amazing as Son, especially after youâd been let down multiple times by men who didnât seem to care at all.
âHowâs your foot?â Son asked as he pushed the wheelchair toward the parking lot where the car was.
âI thought Iâd broken it,â you replied, glancing at the bandage, âbut it was just a sprain.â
âHow did you do this?â He stopped the wheelchair next to the passenger door and opened it. Leaning on your good foot, you managed to sit in the seat with his help, though it wasnât too difficult. Once the wheelchair was free, Son put it back where it belonged.
âI tripped on my own,â you answered, your cheeks starting to turn red.
Sonny slid into the driverâs seat and looked at you.
âOn your own?â
âOn my own.â
The drive to the apartment was smooth. The city was starting to glow under the streetlights flickering on, and the restaurants and bars seemed to be filling up little by little. The real trouble began when you had to walk to the elevator. You werenât using crutches and couldnât put weight on your injured foot. Thatâs when Sonny had a brilliant idea: he suddenly scooped you up bridal-style, and even though you complained, he ignored you, and the two of you stepped into the elevator.
Son did his best to cheer you up, after all, heâd been in the same position a few seasons ago. Even if you werenât a player, he knew you were proactive and hated being stuck in one place.
âSonny?â you called your boyfriend, and he quickly looked at your face. âHow are you going to open the door?â You smiled crookedly, trying to imagine the scene, but once again were met with a mischievous grin.
âYou think Iâm not strong enough to carry you and open a door at the same time?â he asked. You burst into laughter when you looked at him again.
Almost like a juggler, he managed to open the door, giving it a little kick to push it wider. You were greeted by a one-and-a-half-year-old Shih-tzu, ecstatic to see you, bouncing from side to side.
Son placed you gently on the sofa and told you to wait there while he grabbed a few things heâd left in the carâs trunk. With nothing else to do, you rested your injured foot on the coffee table and began stroking the dogâs fur.
The man quickly returned with his gym bag, storing it in the laundry room, and chatted with you some more, trying to understand how youâd fallen. He wondered if it couldâve been someone malicious who had pushed you or recognized you and tried something, but that wasnât the case.
It was already past nine at night when Son grabbed a pencil holder, actually full of pens, from the desk in the bedroom. He sat at the edge of the sofa, placed your feet on his lap while you slept, and picked out a red marker. And then he began his masterpiece.
He drew several hearts, wrote your name around them, tried to sketch Tottenhamâs cockerel, and failed, and wrote the chorus of the song âBTBT,â one of the tunes you never stopped humming around the house.
Suddenly, a memory surfaced.
The cold night wrapped around the couple as they walked through the streets of London toward your home. They had just left the cinema, and since it was already late, Son decided to walk you home while you chatted about the film youâd just watched.
This was your third date. Each time, he grew more certain you were the right person for him. You had everything he was looking for in someone, and on top of that, you had an extraordinary sense of humor.
You stopped in front of your building. You hugged him tightly, and he hugged back, feeling butterflies in his stomach. The scent of your strawberry perfume made him hope and pray for the chance to smell it for the rest of his life. He wanted to be wrapped every night in the gentle embraces you always gave whenever you had the chance.
You pulled back slightly and pressed a soft kiss to Sonâs lips, and he smiled, copying your gesture.
âThanks for tonight, Sonny.â
âSee you next Friday?â
âAbsolutely!â
That day, he thought several times about turning back, calling your name, and confessing everything in his heart, but he held back. On another day, he would say it all when he asked you to be his girlfriend.
You still smelled like strawberries, and just as heâd wished, he got to spend every day after that breathing in that strawberry perfume.
âSonny?â you called softly, still with your eyes half-open.
âIâm here, love.â
âThanks for picking me up today,â you murmured, your eyes half-closed.
âAt your service, always.â He smiled, glancing down and imagining your face when you saw the doodles heâd made.
âI love you, Sonny.â
âI love you too!â
And after a long day, the last image burned into your mind was Son Heung-minâs smile.

To Gojo, heartbreak had always felt like something routine in his life â ever since he was fifteen, when he finally realized that his heart beat the wrong way every time you were near. After all, if he couldnât have you, all that was left was to suffer.
For you, however, it was a feeling entirely new and unfamiliar. Even though youâd liked a few people before, none of them had hurt as much as the last one.
It felt like your heart could skip a beat at any moment and shatter slowly, while all you could do was cry harder and harder in Nanamiâs arms â your best friend, and maybe the only man Suguru wasnât afraid to let near you.
It wasnât just because he was your best friendâyour brother knew perfectly well that Kento, if soulmates were real, would be yours, like two halves of the same whole, and that he had never once gone against your wishes. In fact, heâd been the first person you told when youâd fallen hopelessly in love with your brotherâs best friend, and part of him had even been happy to hear youâd be going on a date with someone other than that silver-haired jerk.
But he regretted that happiness bitterly the moment he got your call. Kento couldnât make out what you were saying on the other endâonly your sobs and the sound of rain in the background. He asked several times where you were, and once youâd calmed down, a few whispered words slipped out, giving away your location. You were close to his place, and he was certain he was about to commit murder on the person whoâd broken your heart.
And the second he saw you standing there, devastated, when he opened the door, he knew someone was going to pay.
He pulled you into his arms without hesitation, holding you tightly as more tears streamed down your face, soaking his shirt. Without much resistance, the two of you walked to his bedroom, where he led you to the bed and stayed with you, wrapped in an embrace for several minutes.
Without you knowing, Kento texted Geto. Geto didnât reply immediately but, a few minutes later, answered in a complete panic. And if there was one thing Nanami knew about your brother, it was that he would get there as fast as possibleâno matter the time or the distance, he would always show up for you.
Kento didnât want to be that annoying person who kept pressing you for details about what had happened; he preferred to wait for you to tell him in your own time, even if your sobs made him uneasy. Eventually, they stopped, and he realized youâd fallen asleep.
It wasnât long before Suguruâand, to Nanamiâs dismay, Satoru â showed up in the bedroom door, ready to destroy anyone who dared cross their path.
"What theâ" Suguru started, ready to launch into a speech, but Kento quickly cut him off with a gesture toward your sleeping figure.
Your best friend carefully adjusted you into a more comfortable position on his bed. Then he stood and stepped toward the two men, wanting to move them away from the room.
"What did that bastard do to her?" Suguru asked, one eyebrow raised, lips pressed in a thin line, his expression utterly furious.
Gojoâs eyes were locked on Nanami, and as he took in the scene, he knew one thing for certain: this wasnât the same clown he knew, not the reckless kid whoâd driven him crazy since the day theyâd met. Nanami could see it â Gojo didnât care about you just as a friend. That look in his eyes wasnât the look of someone worried platonically.
"From what I understand, that idiot stood her up at the restaurant and didnât give any sign of life," Nanami began to explain. "So she called me, crying, and I brought her here."
"Iâm going to end that jerk!" Geto threatened, fuming with angerâso unlike Gojo, who on the outside didnât show any reaction.
But what neither of them knew was that Satoruâs mind was louder and more chaotic than both of theirs combined. It was so noisy, he couldnât form a single coherent thought. He couldnât understand how anyone in their right mind could do something like that to you.
Was he furious? Absolutely. But he didnât know how to react. He wanted to hurt someoneâif Suguru looked at him right now and said, "Letâs end him," he would follow without hesitation. Yet deep down, he knew that would be a mistakeâfor them, and for you. Looking at the whole situation, it wasnât worth it. Theyâd find a better way to get even.
Still silent, he placed a hand on Suguruâs shoulder and whispered a quick, "Iâll be right back," before heading into Nanamiâs room.
When he opened the door, he found you sitting on the edge of the bed. Your eyes were puffy and red, dried tear tracks marking your cheeks, and your lips were still trembling.
Heâd seen you in every mood and situation possible, but nothing compared to this moment.
"I guess I should have listened to you, âToru." A sad smile curved your lips, and the memories of the previous day flashed through his mindâreminding him of the scowl heâd worn when he heard you were going out.
He would destroy anyone who dared hurt you again. But first, heâd make sure to bring your smile backâthe one that always made his heart skip a few beats whenever it appeared on your lipsâand show you that jerk didnât deserve your tears.
And at that moment, he thought: Iâm screwed⌠but sheâs worth it.
