CALZONE

Easy to make. And super yummy!

Ingridients needed:

Sauce:

• fresh blanched tomato • tomato paste • tomato sauce • onion • salt and pepper to taste

Filling:

• red or green bell pepper • ground beef (cooked) • onion • ham • pepperoni • button mushroom • mozzarella cheese • olives

Dough:

• flour • egg • water • pinch of salt • pinch of sugar • lukewarm water • yeast • oil

Eggwash:

• egg • buttermilk

Procedure:

Dough • First, you need to make the dough for the calzone. • In a small mixing bowl, put the lukewarm water, add the yeast, and sugar, mix until the yeast and sugar combined together, cover it and set it aside. Let the yeast rise. • In a big mixing bowl, add the dry ingridients such as flour, pinch of salt, and sugar, mix well. Add the egg (beaten) and mix again using a spatula. When the yeast has risen, add it to the dry ingridients as well, mix all together. Add water if needed. • When the dough is completely mashed, transfer it to another bowl and cover it with a cling wrap and let the dough rise. (Make sure there are no air can pass through the dough)

While waiting for the dough to rise, we’re going to make the filling.

Sauce • In a small saute pan, put some oil and saute the onion, wait until the onion becomes caramelized, then add the tomato paste, leave it for a second until the oil the comes from tomato paste dissolved. • add the tomato sauce, and the blanched fresh tomato, leave it for a minute until the sauce is thicked. Then add salt and pepper to taste.

Eggwash • mix the egg with the buttermilk

In a big mixing bowl, add the sauce, and the ingridients for the filling, mix all together.

When the dough has risen, use a rolling pin and roll it in circle. Add the mixed filling into the half of the circled dough. Sealed the dough and make sure that there are no holes so that our filling won’t spill. Then brush the eggwash through the top of the dough and baked for 350 degree farenheit for about 10-15 minutes.
