Kvarteret Aspen under Ormens Ă„r (2025) by Maria Magnusson Film Screening & Artist Talk! â Wednesday, 5 November 2025 â Time: 17:00â19:30 NSFW invites you to the screening of Maria Magnussonâs film âKvarteret Aspen under Ormens Ă„râ on Wednesday, November 5, from 17:00 to 19:30. The evening includes a public screening followed by an artist talk moderated by NSFWâs artistic director, Oscar Ramos. âKvarteret Aspen under Ormens Ă„râ is a six-minute, site-specific experimental film shot on 16mm and digital formats, featuring a sound collage by âJames Pants Beat Sorrows Part IIâ. Commissioned by Bostadsbolaget for their 80th anniversary, the film draws inspiration from the history of Vasastaden, Magnussonâs own neighborhood, and the stone house at Karl Gustavsgatan 16 where she has lived for fifteen years. For the project, Magnusson filmed her surroundings with a handheld Bolex and developed the material by hand using caffenol and the alternative technique âphytogramâ, incorporating local plants, leaves, and flowers pressed directly onto the film emulsion.

Because Poetry is Capable of Reversing the Necrophilic Forces of Blind Politics,
is a photographic series of Lumen. Maria Magnusson has been working with an archive consisting of discarded slides from Moorpark College, California, dating from the late 1960s and early 1970s. The material is partially enlarged, contact printed and exposed in direct sunlight for 1 hour. The pictures Magnusson have chosen are from a feminist perspective, and can in diïŹerent ways interpret the western ideology and culture heritage. In Common Horizons, the exhibition space becomes a collective realm, a frieze formed from the individual works of six artists, each working in A5 landscape format. By applying a variety of techniques (textiles, painting, video, photography) and forms of expression, the different works are linked both literally, in form, and in ideas. On closer inspection, the product of this merging of horizons contains a grammar of forms of expression with which concepts such as "the whole is the sum of the parts", "the large in the small" or the tension between diversity and unity are explored.

At the End of a World is the first exhibition presentation of a broader curatorial investigation by David Revés focused on questioning death and finitude, decay, ruin, and collapse across various biological, subjective, social, political, economic, and planetary contexts.
At FĂ€rgfabriken, we will now explore these themes through the lenses of experimental cinema and moving-image works from artists of different backgrounds and geographies, where each of the films and videos unfolds through its testimonial and testamentary nature, bearing witness to the âtragediesâ inherent to human âand more-than-humanâ life, as well as to an inextricable world in a state of permanent crisis.
Amidst different horizons of loss and their hauntings, of contingency, catastrophe, or extinction, but also processes of individual or collective mourning, this project thus presents various territories at the end of a world. In doing so, it not only seeks to critically challenge certain Western imaginaries of progress, rationalism, and metaphysical mobilization from within but also aims to envision future speculative possibilities. For, it is hoped, this is merely that: the end of âaâ given world where material finitude is a constant, but among countless others yet to come.
