can’t wait for the older generation to die off so we can get this country back on track

u know how badly i just want everything to stop. i want exams and deadlines to stop. i want to be able to read and write whenever and whatever i want. i wanna watch tv shows all the time i wanna listen to music and look out of my window for hours but i want to be able to do all this stuff without worrying about everything else. i just want it all to stop

I wish to protect brown girls from hearing “what will your in-laws and husband think?” I’ve been hearing these words since before I turned 10. It’s damaging. It takes your childhood away from you. You’re forced to think that your childhood home is a temporary home. Everything you do, all of your actions become forced, for a purpose other than yourself. I understand it’s important to know how to make chai and chop aloo but that is not my passion. I’m going to learn on my own time but for now let me breathe. And if you really enjoy cooking and that is something you love doing then I’m all for it I support you every step of the way but to assume that we should be learning these skills only to impress people? I’ll pass.
