Biography:  Growing up in the shadow of a perfect sibling has a way of shaping a person. Kang Moonbyul was everything she could only wish to be; charming, intelligent, near perfect. It wasn't long before she became obsessed with showing him up, wanting his limelight. Anything he did was something she had to do ten times better, anything to make him seem less than perfect. The man could never understand the animosity his little sister seemed to hold for him as all he'd ever down was try to be a good big brother. When he was no long in the picture, her obsession to be the best was pitted against anyone and everyone else.

Personality: Aloof, apathetic, and abrasive. He is a tempest and a fist in the face when you're expecting a breeze and a simple 'hello'. Everything he is not.

He did not forget to ask where his mother was as he was growing up, the same way he did not forget to ask why his father told him to convince the wizarding world that he was a pure-blood for the next 18 years. He learned which questions to voice, and which ones to keep silent. Living in the East End of London, there wasn't much room for questions, just a lot of dirty looks, and too-high expectations of the boy who's father had once been great in the Ministry of Magic but now survived in the slums. They all talked about his mother's death, voicing their sympathies, and wasn't it a pity, wasn't it tragic? It wasn't tragic at all. She left to escape being killed because of her muggle born status. None of them talk or know about that because his father lied, and lied some more.

This caution of his made for a silent house, emptied of the mother who "died" from sickness, and any ounce of truth. He grew up in a close-minded household with a closed-off father, malleable mind pummeled by negative opinions of muggle born even though he was a halfbreed. He could be treated for his affliction and purified if he kept up his good behavior and did everything he was asked. The Dark Arts replaced the basics he should have been learning. He became an 18 year long project, not a child. Sunggyu's status as a skilled pureblood for the Dark Lord's use was his father's ambition and something he never told Sunggyu, not his delusion. 

Dirty. Disgusting. Unnecessary. All adjectives he was taught to apply to muggle born upon entering Hogwarts and residing in the Slytherin house. His status as a good student was maintained by his own brain-washed ambition and hatred of his father, and he secluded himself to keep from "drifting" toward a "muggle mindset" his mother would have supported. Even his best friend Daon scorned those impure, and Sunggyu surrounded himself with this illusion and these same people as if he could convince himself that he was pureblood. The fact remained he would always be teetering on a precipice, and always be a hypocrite.

Personality:  The first thing that is felt is distance. He keeps himself detached and maintains his aura of self-confidence with perfect composure and succinct speech. Never wastes time. He’s quiet and calm unless provoked, which opens excuse for sardonic remarks if he feels the circumstance is fitting (and if they are worth his breath anyway). He has a strong, private sense of strategic vision, both for the future and how the future can be achieved. Never bites more than he can chew; he is aware of his strengths and weaknesses, and will work to improve if it’s necessary for him to. His level of tolerance and patience is unnervingly high to individuals who try to get under his skin; but if anything goes past the limit he has created for himself, his reaction is stark and unforgiving. Despite the fair amount of reasoned compassion he displays, he holds the reputation of an aloof and merciless individual, his decisions absolute. Logic over emotions; there’s never an in-between; once he’s set on a thought, wavering isn’t an option, and if ever, it is very rare. 

Biography:  Freedom should have came a little easier for the youngest son of the Kim nee Black family who was left with his mother at a young age when his father died. But as a part of the Black house, children were expected to learn its pureblood heritage and legacy and grip onto it like it was a part of their entirety. Of course, he did what was expected of him and never any less; and this obedience lead him to be adored by his family (perks of being the youngest, he figured). There was only moving forward.

Too young to engage in any type of magic, he spent most of his childhood watching his father and older brother with admiration; most people expected him to just linger as a shadow, as the other child of the Kim nee Black, but those thoughts never occurred to him. He was witty and intelligent in his own ways, in his own interests, and he expected his family wouldn’t have had him any other way. Eventually his intelligence and diligence made way to his studies in Hogwarts, where he was sorted into Slytherin, naturally, and became prefect. 

In his years in Hogwarts, he remained selective with a few friends who he figured he should not have been friends with at all. There was no explaining why he allowed Sunggyu to talk to him. They were best friends, or something like that. And with that he lead the impression of a quiet individual; no one suspected him of built up anger and ignorant justifications. His own simmering beliefs put him eye-to-eye with the Dark Lord’s stretching ideology, although Jongsuk’s motivation was entirely different on its own. 

A letter he once wrote to his dead father:

"Muggles and half-bloods are diseased. Your death should equal not one but all those who are not purebloods. And still, they say Slytherins value their own lives more than the lives of others. It is true to some extent. But I value you, mother, and Myungsoo. I’ll only live to bring life to your name and our pureblooded lineage.

Personality: Introverted by nature, he is undoubtedly a cynic who comes off as cautious and suspicious. While he is primarily logic-oriented he does possess a keen intuition in some areas -- namely, the degree to which someone should be trusted. Others may argue he is overly skeptical but he swears by the concept that one is better safe than sorry, and as such it is difficult to earn his confidence. Morally he is more neutral and less zealous about the cause than most of the others in the Order, but the beginning of the war put him in a position where he felt compelled to choose a side and he has remained loyal to the one which, in his eyes, had the best motivation. Perhaps typical of those sorted into Slytherin house he is adaptable and cunning, possessed of a strong sense of self-preservation which combined with his ability to think on his feet has enabled him to survive some dire circumstances. When at ease, in those rare wartime moments of relaxation and comfort, he can be quite easygoing, amusing those close to him with his signature dry wit.

Biography: Born to a muggle father and a witch mother, Sungjoon was raised in a humble household in rural East Kent. His father was a coal miner who met his future wife on a drunken night out on the town in London. After a brief courtship the two wed, welcoming the son who would be their only child after just a few months of marriage. Her rapid love affair and choice of husband ostracized Sungjoon's mother from her family, who, though not outright prejudiced against muggles and muggle-borns, still held the old-fashioned view that she was bringing shame upon the family by not "marrying well" -- a euphemism for joining their bloodline with that of a more prestigious wizarding family.

Never having known his mother's parents or her sisters, Sungjoon never felt their scorn. His father's parents still resided in Korea, so he never met them either. Still, they were happy -- an insular but self-sustained little clan living in a quaint farmhouse that always smelled of home-cooked meals and a fire crackling in the hearth. Much to his mother's delight, Sungjoon received his invitation to Hogwarts at eleven and went on to accept his rightful place at the school. It was in his second year that his half-blood status came to light, something his peers would never forget. Not everyone in Slytherin house held this fact against him, but enough did that he began to withdraw, putting more of his attention into academics and less into the social aspects of life at Hogwarts. He learned to be independent and not rely on anyone else -- a trait which would serve him well when grave news reached him in fifth year. A shaft at the coal mine where his father worked had collapsed, trapping the man and several of his fellow workers inside and killing them.

It was like a switch had been flipped, illuminating everything he'd been blind to these last few years. The collapse of his idyllic family life shed light on the state of the wizarding world, enabling him to see it for all its ugliness in glaring relief. These were not isolated incidents -- tragic accidents, a string of murders by some madman -- and the ones who called themselves the Death Eaters were more than a delusional band of fringe extremists. They were gaining power and influence more rapidly than anyone in the halls of Hogwarts or even the Ministry wanted to admit, and this was an all-out war.

As his seventh year drew to a close, Sungjoon stood at a crossroads. Whispers filled the Slytherin dormitory of the undefeatable Dark wizard known only as Voldemort, and it was with a hushed reverence that they spoke of his rise to power. It was clear he was amongst boys and girls who were becoming men and women eager to join his ranks. It would be a lie to say that Sungjoon wasn't tempted, but when it came down to a final decision he only had to look at the contempt on their faces to know he had never belonged with them.

Personality:  During childhood, her opinions were often disregarded so in adulthood she eats up the chance to share her opinions and is strongly opinionated. She is loud, aggressive in most situations, and eccentric with little regard for others unless they are or like family. Often, she’ll make jokes at the expense of other and doesn’t mind for it to be the other way around. Currently, she is working on trying to be more understanding and empathetic so she can appeal to a variety of individuals in her line of work.

Biography:  When she was a child she was just young female face, another blur shadow when compared against 4 other shining faces, with ebony hair tied with a frayed ribbon. Her belonging confined to a toy box filled with things that didn’t interest her so she moved onto books with tattered covers and dusty insides tucked in the back of their car. Her mother, a Korean immigrant, had met their father on an odd job in Hogsmeade and settled down with him in Dublin where there story bloomed into something like a fairytail. He whisked her away just like she was a princess to another land and thus, a family flourished in a little stone cottage.

They were simple individuals, never taking more than what they needed, and always careful about their magic. Kyungri always felt different than her sisters as they all raced in the wild grass, never quite fit into the personality her parents expected. While they couldn’t wait to end up in Hogwarts to study Herbology she longed to do something else. Be a warrior. Not a person hidden in the tent whilst all the action happened outside. She didn’t want to be her father, the man painted in tales illuminated by orange flames. Curled around his large arm chair by the fireplace is where he’d retell all the golden moments of his time at Hogwarts alongside his friends. There were magical mishaps, wonky flying, and Hufflepuff only things she’d tried to drown out.

Those were stories they’d heard since they were children and so it was only natural to want to be apart of that except she didn’t want to be apart of that legacy. Kyungri would rather practice defensive magic than mess around with a bunch of herbs. And so, when the letter came she left with a bag and the knowledge that she wouldn’t be fulfilling her parent’s dreams. When the sorting hat announced her house it surprised everyone but her. She took her place in Gryffindor and steeled her reserve knowing exactly what she was striving for.

From the beginning, she proved to be an exceptional student as she continued to work towards staying sufficient in nearly every subject. She didn’t strive for friendships that wouldn’t further her academics.  It was in her third year that changed, and she met a boy. A boy, who made her feel as though she was edging along something dangerous and she didn’t have to be that little girl with a frayed ribbon in her hair. But there was darkness in him, darkness she could not let herself be swallowed by so they ended. Heartbreak changed her outlook on herself and so she changed it. She took rusty shears, chopped off the locks, and dipped them in red.

Biography:  Mistakes mark his transitions in life. His mother, a desperate immigrant from China working two part-time jobs to make ends meet left her mistake at the doorstep of an impoverished orphanage in Sussex, England. Unwanted brands him for the next twelve years, alone with nothing but distrust and anger. 

He was eleven when he first received his letter of acceptance from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The surprise came with a bitter aftertaste of betrayal, dead eyes blurring red ink. This was his first mistake.

Unnaturally intelligent with a vicious mind, he delves into dark arts with unstated hunger. Without much penchant for friendship, he remains alone for the majority of the years spent confined behind Hogwart’s walls. He met the only person deserving of his attention in his second year. A sharp-minded Gryffindor he dated for three years. Their breakup was his undoing. Nothing she said would coax him out of the prison he built around himself. Here, he made his second mistake letting her go.

He graduates with little to no fuss, leaving the school with nothing but the robe on his back and a wand in his hand. Joining the Dark Lord was simply to bring bread to the table. He doesn't consider it a mistake. His only other mistake was trusting another Deatheater to watch his back. Now, he works for the Ministry killing anyone he recognizes with a smile on his face.

Personality:  Ornery and perpetually irritated, SeLin isn't exactly a people person. He usually tends towards being by himself and ignoring the general populace. When he is forced to interact with others, he attempts to remain as laid-back as possible and does his best to keep his temper in check. In fights, though, it's not so easy; he's quick to anger and acts impulsively. The only upside is that it keeps him reacting quickly and makes it easier to hold his own. He's most at peace when he's playing quidditch, at home in the sky and relieving all of his stress through competition. He has to win at all costs. 

He does believe that purebloods are of a higher caliber than mixed or mudbloods, but acknowledges that the lower class should not be written off and muggles shouldn't be culled just for being nonmagic. 

Biography:  Born in Seoul, but raised in Prague. His parents were both notable members of the Ministry at the time, though worked primarily from home unless required to appear at headquarters. There were no noteworthy events during the first half of his childhood, as there normally aren't. When Voldemort started gaining power, he was about ten. He didn't know much about it, other than what his parents decided to tell him. At first, it was "bad people are trying to do away with the muggles," and "the ministry is trying to stop the bad men, don't worry." Slowly, it changed to "Voldemort is going to save us," and "the ministry doesn't know what it's doing any more." He began attending the Durmstrang Institute at twelve, and at fifteen, his parents admitted to him that they were death eaters. There was an immediate rift between them, widened by sight of his mother every time he would come home for holidays; yellow and purple splotches covering much of her arms and some of her face. SeLin never brought it up, his parents never talked about it.

Despite his parents being allied with Voldemort and the admission policy of his school, he refused to agree with their ideals. Among his friends, he was part of the majority in being progressive, perhaps due to the generational gap between themselves and their parents.

As a child he enjoyed to talk, but as the years dragged on, nothing remained but this wintry apathy. No, not a kid anymore, an adult—an adult driven by what?, avarice, maybe melodramatic grief. Not a kid, no. Someone of age. Someone who makes his own decisions, is able to love, to hate and to forgive.

But maybe—maybe he is not an adult either.

Biography:  Perhaps this is it. After all, you are nothing but a memory, inconsequential, gray matter.

It goes like this:

You are born to arbitrary parents: both underachiever, both marked by death. Low lives. You decide you are better off without them. There are not many who care for you, so you are sent to an orphanage for hapless lads like yourself. The kids there calls you names, hurt you. But that’s life. You are going to survive, mate. You always do.

You meet this man—thirty, perhaps forty years old—and he tells you he likes you. He likes you very much. He returns every day, buys you a pack of gum on good days, an apple on bad ones. You are charmed, so blind, that you oversee the imminent fate he has promised you.

On a rainy day, it goes like this:

You are awaken by shots fired in the porch. You know they must be coming from the porch because the jarring screams of the bullets reverberate through the house, and it sounds quite like the guffaws of your peers when they decide to play hide in seek inside when rain pelts against the window panes.

You are frightened and hide underneath dense layers of worn cotton that are your winter blankets. It takes awfully long until silence abides by your ears. If by mistake or coincidence, you end up falling asleep.
