Core Wound: identity must be curated, admired, impressive to be accepted

You were raised to perform yourself. Your body, energy, and presence were constantly watched, commented on, or expected to “light up” others. Kinda like your life began with cameras rolling, always acting to entertain others in a way.

You learned to be charming, pleasing; entertaining at a young age. May have been projected as the favorite or golden child but at the cost of expressing yourself authentically (even if you didn’t live up to this standard it may have weighed on you somehow). Deep fear of being ordinary, forgettable, or humiliated. Your image becomes your survival shield in life, so if you’re not impressive you feel invisible.

Core Wound: being seen doesn’t equal being accepted

Your sense of self is highly attuned to recognition, because that’s how you were taught to measure your worth. You were rewarded when you shone, and subtly dismissed when you didn’t. So you embodied “shine” (or not, maybe it’s undercurrents).

You’re wired to seek external confirmation, not always because you’re vain but because you were conditioned that love comes after you receive applause. You may have had a parent (often father/dominant figure) who only validated you when you were exceptional, talented, or performed in some way. When unacknowledged you didn’t just feel rejected but also like you didn’t exist.

Core Wound: emotional needs had to be entertaining, likable, or convenient

Deep one right here. You weren’t loved unconditionally, probably only loved when you made others feel good. So you learned to mask pain with charisma, sadness with generosity, and rage with dramatics. Emotional safety feels like being adored to you. Often a parent (mother or primary caretaker) projected their own ego onto you as a child like “make me proud”, “don’t embarrass me”, “be special”. Learned to regulate other’s emotions than your own; if the environment was happy you were allowed to feel secure.

Core Wound: voice must be captivating to be worthy of space

You weren’t just taught to speak, you were taught to present. Your thoughts had to be expressive, persuasive, dramatic, funny. Being boring meant being tuned out, which feels like emotional death. Likely interrupted or ignored when they weren’t interesting enough. Your mind performs instead of processes, always trying to be liked when thinking. May feel deep shame when your ideas don’t land, so overcorrection kicks in.

Core Wound: love is tied to performance; glamour, or appeal

You grew up being noticed for how you looked, what you gave, or how you made others feel. Not really for who you were. So now love becomes a stage rather than a sanctuary for you. You were conditioned to believe that you had to impress to be wanted. You tend to attract partners who idealize you but don’t see you deeply. Tends to struggle with feeling replaceable if they’re not dazzling or overgiving to others. Often afraid to be loved in quiet or mundane ways because it doesn’t feel real.
