š£What is Rujinu Historical AU Week?
Rujinu Historical AU Week is a 7-day event on Bluesky and Tumblr. This week-long event celebrates the Rujinu (also known as Jinumi) ship from KPop Demon Hunters using the theme of a Historical AU setting! Fans of sageuk and Korean history, stand up, because now is your time!
Want to explore Jinu's past from 400 years ago with Rumi in the picture? What about the events of the movie, but during the Joseon dynasty? Demons and hunters during the era of war and conflict, class differences, and palaces is a great way to explore Rujinu in a new way! It's not limited to just Joseon eitherāThree Kingdoms, Goryeo, and other more recent historical settings are welcome.

š£How do I participate?
The most common ways to participate are by creating art or writing a fic and posting it online. Some people may try and create something for every day, while others might want to only fill one or two prompts. We want to reassure you that itās perfectly okay not to participate every day! We're just excited to share what you create each day.
š£What kind of work is accepted?
Anything is accepted, no matter what fanwork you submit! You can write a fic, create fanart, sing a song, make a graphic, write a poem, or make a video (or anything else you can think of). You can also show your support by reblogging/reposting and liking other peopleās contributions.
Please keep fanworks focused on the Rujinu ship and use the Historical AU theme. Rumi and Jinu should always be the main ship focus, even if there are other ships involved.

Original fanworks that you made yourself. No work created by generative AI is permitted. If it comes to the mods' attention that your work was made using AI, your work will be ignored and/or removed from the collection.

Generally speaking, there are no explicit SFW or NSFW prompts involved. However, this event can be whatever you make it as long as youĀ tag works appropriately.
š£How should I tag my work?
The easiest way for us to find your work so we can reblog/repost it is to useĀ #Rujinu Historical AU Week. You should alsoĀ @rujinucafe. You are also welcome to use any other Rujinu or Kpop Demon Hunters tags so that more people can find your work.
If there are any warnings, tag them appropriately and thoroughly.

The town's name is Gernika, by the way. "Guernica" is the Spanishised spelling that Franco forced on us when he rose to power and tried to erase our language and culture from existence.
Not to derail the post, but Gernika wasn't bombed because "it was the center for the resistance against fascism" - it was a tiny rural town - but to kill Basque civilians as psychological warfare. Friendly reminder that Gernika was bombed on a market day - meaning not only Gernika locals were there, but lots of people from the surroundings - and that the town was hosting the survivors of the bombing of Durango. The town was packed with women, elderly, children, and wounded. Center of the resistance my ass.
Also, it was a calculated attack against one of the biggest and oldest Basque symbols: the Tree of Gernika, that represents our old laws and traditions since before the Middle Ages. Gernika burnt for three days and three nights, but the tree and Basque people survived.
So the fact that innocent civilians in Gaza are being pruposely murdered echoes especially loudly in Gernika.

I don't think I actually had much of a ship for anyone in these movies except Steve and Natasha but you know that never happened. Also, is there a love triangle or something because you mentioned Sersi and Dane? Don't read the comics so wonder if she's actually with him in there. Oh another thing I forgot you have no idea how excited that not only is my otp an interracial (since we don't get enough of that) Makkari is actually deaf and Druig uses asl to communicate with her.
Honestly same. I've always been a romantic but personally I just was never able to get into the Marvel ships. I remember when Avengers came out in 2012, I liked the Clint/Natasha vibes but it was more like a nice little bonus to a fun movie, plus we know how that all ended later LOL. Do I trust Marvel not to fuck up Drukkari?...
And re: the interracial otps, YES. As a woc, I am WITH YOU. Now that I think about it, I think all the pairs in Eternals were interracial: Sersi and the Stark boys, Phastos and Ben, Thena and Gilgamesh, Makkari and Druig - am I missing anyone? The intersectional representation in this movie is so important, as well as the depictions of healthy romantic relationships, specifically Drukkari and Phastos/Ben. And omg yes letās please talk about Druig and Makkari communicating in ASL?! I really love how he is the one who most consistently signs to her in their shared scenes, instead of making her solely rely on lip-reading and vibration sensing - even though the film made it clear that she was incredibly capable with both. Also that he translates for her when she needs it, but never in a way that is intrusive or takes away her agency. because heās earned Makkariās trust but also this is a man who WORSHIPSRESPECTS HIS PARTNER.
Thank you for the spoilers! It's late so I can't respond/read everything but I'll be sure to and send another message about them when I do. Right now all I'll say is they feel more like the main otp for me I can tell Druig is going to be my favorite character he's so ride or die for her as well as se is to him which I love I hope we get to see a lot more of this relationship in future movies I know romance isn't the main thing in these movies but I would like to see more at least from them.
I completely agree with you! I think they are the main otp (that Marvel was not expecting lol). I've seen it floated around that the S/I pairing is not necessarily designed to be rooted for by the audience (even though their relationship was one of the driving forces of the film), and that makes a lot of sense to me given how the narrative progressed!
You're so right about them being each other's ride or dies š„ŗ I hope we get to see more of their relationship in the future too ā part of me is likeĀ āyes give us ALL the drukkari, make them front and center like they DESERVE to be!!ā and the other part of me is likeĀ ājust let them stay a āside pairingā that gets to be in love with each other and happily togetherā bc as you pointed out, romance isnāt the main thing in these movies and what romance there is, in the first three phases at least, is not well-executed (imo!). Iām kinda hopeful for Phase 4 though, since they seem to be more open to exploring relationships and things like love.
