Ghost Polls!

Here we're hosting a friendly tournament between ghosts of all medias!

I'm looking for 32 submissions before the tournament commences!

Friendly reminders!

This is all for fun! If your character of choice does not get chosen or won, please do not come for my skin! Just because I'm hosting this doesn't mean I myself want to be a ghost.

Multiple characters of the same media will not count!

Any character who is dead is applicable for the tournament!

we’ve had sooooo many posts about best sapphic rep, best mlm rep, best trans rep, best non-binary rep, best this best that best whatever but how about the WORST!!!!!!

that’s right folks. it’s time to air your grievances. it’s time to submit your CRINGE FAIL BAD LGBT REP CHARACTERS to the tournament bracket, and then we (the tumblr hivemind) will decide who is just the ABSOLUTE WORST. the amount of characters participating in the brackets will be decided on the amount of votes recieved.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1.) your character must be CANONICALLY lgbt or STRONGLY IMPLIED to be lgbt in the original text or by WORD OF GOD. no headcanons.

2.) your character must be BAD REPRESENTATION. what IS bad representation, you ask? well, i’m glad you’ve inquired!

bad representation is NOT: a lesbian character doing bad things, a gay character being a villain, a trans character being gender nonconforming, or characters being confirmed as lgbt+ after the end of canon so long as the character was implied heavily to be lgbt+ during canon.

bad representation IS: a gay character being predatory, a lesbian character being “converted” to like men or having “an exception” for one man, a trans character being an obvious caricature, or a character being confirmed lgbt+ only for the sake of brownie points.

ARGUE YOUR CASE!

even if your character falls into the “not” category, you will have a chance in the submissions form to argue WHY your character’s representation is bad, actually!

3.) only THREE SUBMISSIONS allowed PER USER. you will not be allowed to submit anymore than three (all on one form). after that form is submitted, you can edit it, but it’s DONE!

this is to ensure that the characters being nominated are being nominated for GENUINELY BAD REPRESENTATION and it’s not just one user who has beef with the perceived “bad” representation of some guy from some show i’ve never heard of spamming submissions.

4.) you MUST provide a reason for why their representation is BAD. characters who don’t have a case for why they are bad representation will be thrown out. do not assume everyone knows blorbo from your shows and all the discourse surrounding them! 

when the polls are hosted, the posts will succinctly explain how each character in said poll is “bad” for people who are unaware of this character’s existence. a “source: (dude trust me)” is not gonna cut it!

BRACKETS WILL BE SEEDED RANDOMLY. submissions will close when i believe there is enough variety in characters to fill a bracket.

remember: it’s not a popularity contest! you’re not voting for your favorite character. you’re voting for CRING FAIL BAD REPRESENTATION.
