i don’t have much for chrom’s modern au, but here’s just a few of my ideas:
he’s the heir to the ylisse conglomerate
his older sister died of mysterious circumstances (he believes murder, and i understand that in the actual game she commits ******, but that was for a very specific reason. someone forced her to do it. so i still considered it murder).
said conglomerate’s hometown is in hyderabad, india. he goes there frequently for business, obviously, but he’s studying for his masters in public health in england (oxford).
he actually has a plethora of degrees, but i haven't decided what exactly those are.
chrom’s parents (who founded ylisse) were heavily tied into the state’s politics, his father was even the CM of andhra pradesh (now telangana). CM (chief minister) is the highest state government position one can hold.
his father gave the ylisse conglomerate over to chrom’s older sister, emm, so he could focus on being the CM.
his father dies due to mysterious circumstances (murder).
chrom is pressured into being the new CM, even though he has no prior political experience.
he takes the oath and becomes the youngest CM in indian history.
his ruling style is strict but firm, he imposes new laws that force people to take responsibility of their own actions, he gives villages their own governments and government-issued funds to use as they see fit. he cracks down on corruption.
of course, this is india, corruption is literally everywhere and he has angered many, many people. he has to deal with the attempted murders and people trying to scare him into submission. he quite literally fights people, he’s forced to.
