Not the best time to forget which way home is.

Well, it’s NYE here in the merry old land of Oz, and time for a 2024 art roundup on my fanart blog.

Not as much finished art from me this year. My laptop hasn’t been working for a while and I just haven’t had the time or space to work on traditional art beyond a few sketches. But I’m pretty happy with the art I did have time to produce, so that’s something. And once again it’s mostly of Inuyasha, so no surprise there.

The real world is a bit scary at the moment. Who knows what 2025 will bring? But from me personally, in my fandom filled pocket of Tumblr, I wish you joy.

I hope you find comfort in the little things - a cosy chair in a warm sunbeam, an unlooked for compliment from a stranger on a sucky day, a $20 note in the pocket of that jacket you haven’t worn for a while. May you find peace and comfort and warm socks. May your coffee be just right. May we all make it through another journey around the sun and find solace in our little fandom fixations when the real world gets to be too much.

Ballet and Breakdance

I am alive! First sketch I've finished in ages that I'm happy with. I love the whole ballerina vs b-boy aesthetic. Inspired by this amazing dance couple I stumbled across on YouTube.

I finally got a chance to read @elkonigin's InuKag fic Sacrifices. It broke me. But in a good kind of way. Also includes amazing art from @classysassy9791

There's always so much good stuff to read and look at during an Inuspiration event that sometimes it can take a little while to catch up. If like me, you hadn't had a chance to read it yet, this weekend is the perfect time, so you have enough spare hours to sob into your pillow afterwards.

An Inu-Spiration Tanabata Bang Collaboration with Dawnrider

It was my absolute privilege to be paired with @dawnrider for this bang. We've known each other for a while, and I adore her writing. I just know you're going to love her story - it has all the things I cherish in an Inuyasha canon setting that make me kick my heels in glee while I'm reading. Please leave her some love in the comments when you reblog!

Once you've read Dawnrider's story, this art will make more sense. I wanted to convey the feeling that Inuyasha and Kagome got caught up in something much bigger than themselves, and it meant that my art started out on a regular sized canvas and then got dragged into panoramic proportions when I realised it wasn't conveying the feeling the story evoked for me.

This one took a while for me to do, and me dragging my feet had absolutely nothing to do with Dawn's amazing work - my life at the moment is just full of Too Many Things. But there's nothing like an ADHD panic fest at the last minute to make you produce something - I'm just lucky I live on the arse end of the Earth and it gives me an extra 11 hours or so, otherwise I absolutely would have been marked down for handing in my assignment in a tardy fashion...

Live has been crazy over the last few months; nothing too horrible, just real life turned up to max speed with zilch downtime. And the little bits of free time I had were spent with my kids or sleeping, so there's been almost zero time for writing or sketching.

Yesterday was the first few hours I had to myself for ages, so I did some sketches to get my fingers working again. I've done a page of Kagome before; today you get an Inuyasha page.

Some time ago, possibly last year, but who can tell in these trying times, @brain-rot-hour and I said that we would do an art exchange, with a whenever we got around to it time limit.

@brain-rot-hour let me present your son. He obviously deserves a treat - Number 1 Ramen in Japan. How could you not buy him at least a dozen. He will carry them all home for you, but will require extra ramen in payment. In advance.
