Khaslana knocks on your apartment door before letting himself in, calling out to you as he shuts the door behind him. He hears the gentle clacking of a keyboard and mouse coming from your room. Of course you would be playing games while you were sick.

He lets out a small huff of amusement to himself, walking further into the apartment you shared with Castorice. Most of the lights were off… save for the lamps and wall lights in the living room that were a more yellow color. It made the home look more comfortable.

The golden haired man sets the bag of groceries on the kitchen island, before walking to your room. He stops in the door, leaning against the frame.

“You’re going to give yourself a headache.” he says, breaking the silence.

He nearly laughs at your posture. Nearly. Instead he does something worse: he takes his phone out to take a picture. You only look up after the sound from his phone camera goes off.

“Khas...” You pout, watching as he now laughs at your misery, his eyes crinkling in near delight. It was actually incredibly unfair how handsome the guy looked when he was smiling and not looking like someone just stole the his lap time.

He strolls over, standing behind your chair, he leans over it, he places his phone down on your desk, loosely wrapping his arms around you before then pressing his lips to the side of your face, a kiss to your cheek… then your jaw, then to the corner of your mouth.

“O-Okay, okay..” you flush, cheeks a slight pink from the affection. It always caught you off guard when he did stuff like that. You aren’t complaining, of course not. It just often made you flustered. “Youre going to get yourself sick, Khaslana...” You add, a slight concern in your voice.

Khaslana, finally satisfied in flustering you, rests his chin on your shoulder, looking towards your pc screen. “Ill probably be alright.” He reassures you- though youre not sure how reassuring that ‘probably’ was.

You didnt sound like you were particularly ill… probably just came down with a cough or a cold. So he doesnt need to worry much… but he’ll still stick by your side. “How do you play these…” he mutters. All the bright, neon colored ui… he squints his eyes, then blinks. “Is that me, [Name]?” He asks, looking at your roblox avatar. Golden hair, race suit that looked suspiciously like his own… and.. pink sparkles as an accessory? Interesting.

A snort leaves your nose. “What, you dont like it?” You ask, using your mouse to turn the perspective. “No, no. Its…” he pauses, looking for the right word. “Its great.” He finally says. “You’ve managed to capture how handsome i am.” The blonde teased.

He stands up suddenly, spinning your chair around to face him, taking your hands off of the keyboard and mouse. “Well, dawnlight. What are you going to eat? And dont tell me you dont know.”

He watched as you slink back into your chair, nearly sliding off. He sighs, reaching down to take your hand to pull you up and lead you to the kitchen. You reluctantly follow, slumped over as you walk behind him to the kitchen. “I already asked Cas to get some ramen.” You say to him, sitting down on s stool at the kitchen island.

Khaslana sighs. “Right…” He stands on the other side of the island. “Fruit?” He asks, pulling the grocery bag he had brought earlier over in front of him. You still needed something in your stomach. Not just medicine. He started pulling the items out of the bag. Bananas, cold medicine.. oatmeal, applesauce… You raise a brow at the ingredients. “Did you just look up whats easiest to make when you’re sick and use that as a grocery list?” You laugh, recognizing the items from when you had looked it up earlier for yourself.

“I didnt know what else to get.” He shrugs, folding the paper bag up before making his way around and sitting beside you on another stool.

A short laugh escapes your lips. “Youre not denying it.” You say back. And he watches as you pull your phone from your pocket, unlocking it. He picks off a banana from the bundle, unwrapping the peel and taking a bite.

Khaslana leans forward, propping his arms up on the counter, keeping his eyes on you. using one hand to grab the bundle of bananas, holding them out towards your boyfriend by one of the bananas. He huffs but takes it anyway, tearing the one youre holding from the bunch and unwrapping it for you. Though just as he sat down, he gets up again to make some tea, shuffling about around the kitchen to get the flavor of tea he knows you like, plus his own, and the tea kettle.

You take a bite of the fruit, setting your phone down and hitting play on the show you decided to watch while Khaslana makes you tea. You lean your phone up against the other unpeeled bananas so you wouldnt have to crane your neck down to look at your phone.

”So.” He starts. You look up, pausing your show. “Hm?”

“Was it actually the bmw guy who booked you the other day or was it the rain that got you sick, huh?” He asks as you watched him fill the kettle with water; albeit with his back to you.

You shrug. “I mean, i wasnt out in the rain for that long.” Khaslana starts the heating process, and turns back to face you, leaning back against the counter behind him. “So when I called Reaver to ask about it earlier, and he told me you were in the near pouring rain for 10 minutes…” he trails off, the question lingering in the air unsaid, an affectionate ribbing in his voice.

“I—okay.” You stammer out, “i was helping a customer.” You try. Though by the way his eyes crinkle in amusement, he doesn’t really believe you.

You realize you’ve fallen into his trap, and he lets out a soft laugh.

Today isnt a bad day, you decide.

The abyss’s marks weren’t unbearable, per say… it just made the marked parts of your body a lot more susceptible to the cold. And living in Snezhnaya, well.

But, being the main head scribe for the fatui, you were also a subject to wearing the long and heavy overcoats that were designed and made for high ranking members of the organization.

Though you weren’t really supposed to have a harbingers cloak. Well it was a harbingers cloak, anyway. Pierro had given it to you after the two of you had gotten married; a decision he made when he learned you had been frequently using it as a blanket. It had to be altered to fit you, of course. Adjustments had to be made as well, so it didnt look like it was Pierros.

Walking around your desk, you opened of the drawers, pulling out a different pair of gloves. A pair Pantalone had given you for your birthday just a month before— stylish, warm and comfortable. Who knew you could have all three? Nevertheless, it was quite the thoughtful gift. You had been needing a new pair to keep at work desk anyway.

The wooden door to your office creaks open, and you look up to see who it was as you put on the gloves. A smile rises to your face as the familiar figure steps into the room, closing the door behind him.

“Busy?” Pierro asks you, boots gently clinking against the polished wooden floor.

“Right now, not particularly,” You answer, sitting down in your chair and making yourself comfortable. Pierro approached, stopping when hes just beside you. He pauses, before deciding to walk over to the pair of couches on the other side of the room instead.

You let out a small hum of amusement, finding yourself walking over to sit beside him. Then again, making yourself comfortable in your new chair. “Are you warm, [Name]?” He asks. Because to him, when he knows how uncomfortably cold you can get, its important.

“Mm. Yeah.” You hum.

Mornings in Snezhnaya could be brutal to you, even with all the layers in the world. Because the markings were literally etched into your skin. So the abyss seeped into your bones whenever even an inch of cold touched the marks, making you incredibly cold.

Which is also why you always made sure to keep your office room warm and comfortable. In fact, you would go as far as to say its most likely the most comfortable room in the fatuus headquarters. You were very proud of yourself for it.

Pierro lets his lips quirk up slightly. Indeed it was the most inviting room in this usually cold place. Even if, to him, it was because it was your space. He lets out an exhale that could nearly be laughter as he pulls you over, hooking an arm under your legs and setting them over his own. You laugh softly at his antics, having grown used to this by now, after so many years spent alongside Pierro. Though it was uncommon, usually only when the two of you had the chance to be alone, did he allow himself to soften. Even if its only a small amount.

“Did you replace the books in here?” Pierro asks, gesturing to the small bookshelf that sat just inches away from the two couches, pushed up against the wall. ‘For visitors who wished to have a quiet place to read.’ You once told him. Though there were rarely such people outside of the harbingers who could have the leisure to read in your office. Oh well.

“Oh,” you perked up a bit, scooting closer. “Yes, i did. I replaced them just yesterday.” Your legs instinctively hook over his own as you lean over to pluck one from the top shelf. “Most of these are books from Liyue.”

“This one…” you trailed off, flipping through the books pages. “Is about the adepti of Liyue… or, i believe this one at least tells the tale of five yakshas.”

Pierro hums. “I suppose they aren’t recorded much in books?” He observes. Though he doubts his words are the case. His free hand opens, asking permission to borrow it.

“Thats not necessarily the case.” You answer, closing the book and placing it in his open palm, settling back against his side. “Liyue is a nation of record and contracts. I believe the adepti have many records on them… though theyre a bit hard to get a hold of when youre overseas.”

Pierro lets out a soft laugh. Rough, yet warm. Reserved just for you.

“Which is why you asked to visit Liyue once Tartaglia was finished with his mission in retrieving the Geo gnosis?” He asks, untangling his other arm from your legs and wrapping it around your shoulders so he could poke your cheek.

You huff. Retaliating by poking at his own cheek before then moving on to pulling at his beard. “The information on the adepti could prove to be incredibly useful.”

Pierro laughs once again. Easier and a little more relaxed. Its almost ridiculous how easy it is for you to melt the icy and stern exterior he held up 24/7. “Yes dearest, i understand.” He says with an almost melodramatic sigh.

You snort, opening the book for him. He could be dramatic when he wanted to be.

His arm drops from your shoulders to wrap around your middle, hand now resting in your lap. His fingers hook around your gloved ones, his thumb idly tracing over your knuckles.

You spent the rest of the hour, and the next, with your husband, going through some of the various books that were on the bookshelf. Mostly him listening to you read out parts that stood out to you, or just reading them together. A rare moment of peace between the chaotic happenings of the world around you.

Varka knows you dislike nearly everything about alcohol; be it wine, beer, whiskey, whatever. The smell, the taste, the buzz and the way it could make you feel — point is, you could never really like it.

So he agreed. Because that was easy! He was out a lot anyway. That, and he usually drank with his soldiers and colleagues. So how hard could it be?

The Grandmaster had found it a little funny. Because despite living in Mondstadt, the nation of alcohol in all of Teyvat, and being the lover of one of the most infamous drinkers in Mondstadt as a whole, you quite disliked one of the things the nation was famous for. Not to mention him and his drinking habits.

Yet you loved him anyway.

Living in a home without the booze and wine he was used to was… a bit of a challenge, especially early on. But he did eventually get used to it. Eventually.

Since you didnt drink alcohol, you drank fizzy juice , as Varka called it, instead. It was just… juice, but sparkly. He’s had it before, though it wouldnt replace alcohol. Although… since moving in with you, he’s grown to like it more.

And now especially, while he’s in Nod Krai, he realizes he craves it more— if only because it reminds him so much of you.

He drinks it when its his turn to watch over the camp while the others get to drink.

In Varkas letters, he writes to you about the normal stuff— the people he’s met, the troubles he’s gone through and the problems he’s faced (he makes sure to down play it a little so you dont worry too much)… and not to mention, the flavors of the juices hes tried, and the foods… he cant forget the foods. Varka definitely makes sure to send a recipe he likes with the letters he sends every now and then.

So he can try them with you when he gets home, of course. Though… if you do end up trying them before then, he only asks that you tell him what it was like— how you made it, and whether you like it or not. In detail. Because he loves when you write to him. Especially when its multiple pages. Hearing about your normal, everyday life while hes over in Nod Krai doing everything but having a normal day is, to him, the best thing.
