Also throughout this whole thing they're speaking mock archaic Chinese extremely badly.

Translation:

Ha ha ha. - Guan Yu: Big Brother, the horse seems hungry. *puts some hay on the table so the horse shoves all the balls into the hole as it eats* Liu Bei: What a good horse Di Lu (Liu Bei's horse) is! One of the things I miss the most is the reason why people go mad after reading the play. It's not the case of witnessing horrors of the universe as is with Lovecraft. Instead, the play is described as "beautiful, terrible in its siplicity and irresistible in truth". It's scary in the second act but it's not as horryfic as it is profound.

People don't go mad because of their minds not being able to comprehend the knowledge and horrors behind it. They go mad because their perception of reality is shifted. The truth is simple and beatiful and scary and people WANT it to be the truth as well.

It's paradoxical. The King in Yellow is terrifying. People who meet him fear him. And yet they want to model their reality on Carcossa. They want to talk about the play and the king and the story. They want to read it despite knowing It's dangerous and many people who had read it went mad.
