When we bought our tickets, we were in a different time zone and missed the floor tickets before they sold out. We told ourselves that we'd figure it out and that's exactly what we did. After a long drive from Montréal to Portland we headed for the bar to pregame for the show. Pregaming turned into just gaming and missing The Frontbottoms' first few songs but once we got in the venue we ran to our assigned seats. We watched The Frontbottoms from our seats drunk and a little rowdy. We realized that we defs needed to be on the floor if we were gonna enjoy the show. I'll admit that thoughts of rushing the floor bouncer were thrown around but in the end we came up with something so much better. While pondering deeply between bands (I.e waiting in the beer line) I spotted a blue bag of Doritos in the venue garbage. The bracelets to get onto the floor were blue. 💡! Within seconds of fishing the bag of Doritos out of the trash my best friend was ripping it into thin strips using her teeth. (when I pointed out that she had just put garbage in her mouth, her drunk logic was that it "wasn't like anyone else had put the bag in their mouths") We fastened the blue strips of garbage onto our wrists in the handicapped bathroom stall with some chewing gum and waiting for the lights to dim. When the lights went out, we walked right onto the floor flashing the bouncer our garbage. Brand New played one of the most incredible sets and I got to enjoy it up close with my two best friends, without paying a hundred something dollars.
