“Hello I’m Sue and I live in Geraldton WA with my husband Pete and Daisy the brown dog. In April 2017, at the age of 52, I plan to start walking from Melbourne home to Geraldton to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Australia Dementia Research Foundation. My trolley, named “The Ladies’ Auxiliary” and I plan to walk about 4,500 km together over about 6 months. We will walk across our big beautiful country and into Eyre Peninsula where I grew up on a farm at Karkoo. Here, time can be spent in Port Lincoln with my parents and family who know this disease all too well.”

THE GOAL

Introducing: MIGHTY INK! Mighty Ink has a goal to create positive change in our local and national communities, one product at a time. We believe that even with a little ink and paper, our impact can be mighty. The products under the Mighty Ink banner declare our support for women's rights, LGBTQ rights, environmental protection, immigrant rights, refugee assistance, science, and civil rights (just to name a few). We will be donating 50% of proceeds from Mighty Ink products to rotating charities working to support these causes. This month, we will be donating to The Wilderness Society. @wildernesssociety works to protect our nations shared wildlands through conservation and public engagement. UJAMAA GRANDMAS

We have over 500 members in Calgary.  We hold two sales during the year.  We have a sale in the spring of donated fabric, yarn and various other supplies and patterns.  It always amazes me how much stuff is donated for the sale.  This year's sale is April 21 and 22. Then in late fall we have a sale called Bags Babies and Beyond of finished goods that members have been making during the year.  Both sales are huge fundraisers.  In addition we have other events during the year which bring in more funds.  All the money we raise is donated to the Stephen Lewis Foundation for the Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign.  In the 10 years our organization has been going we have raised one million dollars.  We are always looking for new opportunities for fundraising.
