— Years ago, Miguel and Giovanna were paired by the coach and it was spot on. The chemistry and talent, alongside with hard working, led them to won many medals. World and olympics champions that seemed unstopabble until, one day while training, Miguel fractured his right ankle and, although he recovered and were able to skate, he could never compete again. His ankle was now weak for the jumps and harsh movements.
He drowned in his new, cold reality. He could never be with her on the big ice again, to dance under the spotlights where her skin glimmered with liveness. To feel the thril of the competition with her in the arms. Between physyoterapy and medications, he felt... dull. Not only because he wouldn't be as active as he was, but the thought of Giovanna with another partner made him feel useless, a pang of jealousy ligered deep down his heart. She was the greatest in Pairs Mixed and Miguel would never step on her way, never hold her back. She loved what she does.
Giovanna resisted the idea of having another partner. She tried but it didn't worked out, it wasn't the same, no spark. And so, she went solo in competitions but on her life, she was always by Miguel side, on his darkest days, on his gray days until he found his sunny days, once again. They would always be together, on the ice and out.
Miguel become her second coach and he was more than happy to be there for her in a way, even as a shadow. Watching her glowing under the spotlights, was more than enough. They casually skate whenever they got a chance, arms given and soft laughs. —
