this morning it smells like damp earth, brewing coffee, and eucalyptus from the flowers my love brought to the hospital. you cried out for me before I could even pour the agave. I looked over and saw your squirming arms and legs first, then your eyes, wide open and trying to take in everything all at once. no wonder you sleep so much, baby. it must be so tiring, trying to figure this crazy world out with just your eyes. so I picked you up and held you and you quieted. we went to the window and looked out, at all the fog and the raindrops and we stood there for a while..trying to figure out this crazy, crazy world.
