“I bet you’ve got a whole queue of boys lining up for you, missy. Dare I say I’m jealous?” The woman laughed. “My husband got me some flowers and chocolates, but I ate those this morning.”

“no way. boys have cooties, ma’am. but there are some really nice ones in my class,” she smiled, “i love chocolates!”

“i’ve never been a big valentine’s guy, I gotta admit, but this is pretty sick.”

“sick? like in the good way?”

“if you eat it all at once you might get a stomach ache.”

“ ‘m going to save some of it and share some of it.”

“that’s awesome. just make sure you don’t eat all of it at once or else you’ll get sick.”

“i wont get sick.”

“me? really?” she laughed, “thanks mais, i love it. i didn’t make you anything though–”

“mhm, you,” she nodded, “thats okay kovie, i just wanted to make everyone a valentine.”

“oh, thanks mais. you get lots of chocolate today?”

“mhm. i got a bunch at school. everyone brought in valentines and candy for the class.”

“aw, thanks babe. that’s precious. i have some leftover chocolates in my purse from maycee’s class, d’you want some of those?”

“i hope you like it, sol. if they’re leftover then i want ‘em, but i don’t want to take ‘em from someone else.”

“Bless you. Thank you.” Amelia smiled down at the girl. “Even though I’m married, I don’t really see the point in this being a thing.”

“you’re welcome, miss,” she nodded, “i dunno, i like it.”

“I fucking hate ex girlfriends.”

“i know. they’re the worst!”

“Could you please grab me that box over there so I can work on my over split?”

“of course.”

“Are you sure about that, cutie?”

“Turns out I’m not the chef I thought I was, anybody want some badly burnt and incredibly chewy brownies?” Oakley giggled, holding up a plate with the brownies on them.

“ill eat ‘em!”

“These stamps that put cute designs on your nails!”

“will you put some on my nails miss ‘lina?”

“yes ma’am!” she said with a small smile. “me too, but i’d love to have you teach her all about it! she’ll be a little star with you as her teacher.”

“i think i’d be a super good teacher. i could even babysit when i get older! even if it’s a boy i can still teach ‘em to dance.”
