I think he would plan for his pregnancy at 48 to be his final one since that’ll make it a round 10 kids, then ofc that one ends up being another pair of twins. His dr has been pulling her hair out this whole time because he keeps having home births but finally insists that for the last 2 he needs to have a C section and they’ll just do his hysterectomy at the same time so there’s no more of this nonsense. But ofc he ends up going into labor before the due date, and after all those kids his deliveries have gotten pretty fast so he has them in the car on the way to the hospital. And in the chaos of raising all those kids he never gets around to rescheduling that hysterectomy and accidentally gets knocked up with a final pair of twins at 50. These ones do actually get their peaceful c-section though the whole time Dave is like is this really necessary and his dr through clenched teeth is like yes. yes it is.

Anyway the whole reason I had this on my mind was I think Dave was shy during his first pregnancy but for the following ones he’s very open about it and always has his hands all over his belly, inadvertently drawing attention to what’s already a big and hard-to-ignore gut. And esp once there’s a lot of movement, he’s always inviting everybody to feel, even strangers if he sees them already looking (which they usually are).

The contraction was a force that could not be bargained with, so much pressure distilled into such a small space that suddenly nothing was left within him but a blind, instinctive need to push. He reared back to grab the counter lip with his other hand, dropped his chin to his chest, and finally, finally did what his body had been screaming at him to do: he pushed.

he runs into an old classmate from school who is SHOCKED to see just how pregnant their former classmate is and they make small talk as he pants through the catch up talk because the baby stuffed in his womb is pushing on his lungs. they make their separate ways

less than a year later, old classmate runs into the guy again but he looks nearly the same, if not even MORE pregnant than the last time they saw him. they thought that they had the baby?? but the transmasc awkwardly laugh and rub their huge belly and explain that no they did have the baby. he’s just pregnant with twins this time and the classmate is amazed that they had two pregnancies nearly back to back

Crawling through the sweltering and cramped maintenance tunnels of a space ship when his belly has already grown rather cumbersome and his twins' kicks are at their strongest is backbreaking work... but unless he wants to give birth on board somebody needs to fix the battered engine...

Like. The baby isn't a participant. The baby is a plot point, like the backalley the characters fuck in or the booze they drank beforehand.

People obviously have other reasons not to be into it, but I'm talking specifically about the Weirdness™, the kind that leads one to make a post on Tumblr.com about obtaining the in-story consent of fictional characters, which is a stupid concept in the first place since they're fictional and not real, and how the baby can't consent. You've seen that post, I know you have. That kind of Weirdness™.

How about a broad, fat trucker who spends most of his time on the road, and finds himself gaining weight? He thinks it's just the long hours and days of sitting on his ass, until his water suddenly breaks in the middle of a haul.
