Shit, shit, shit,Ā fucking hellā¦!
A fist slams into the tree heās stumbled into, frustration and panic and cold, hard fearĀ ripping through the wizardās very being. Cold sweat drips down his face and heās breathing too quick and too shallow, but itās nigh impossible to calm down with the numbness, the heavinessĀ spreading excruciatingly slowly from his feet and up his legs.Ā
Theodore had thought they were extinct, but the newly hatched basilisk heād come across had certainly proven him wrong in the most horrible of ways. The creature had still been too young, so he hadnāt been hit by the full brunt of the curse that an adult basilisk wouldāve been capable of, butā¦
Heās not entirely sure that slowly being turned to stoneĀ is a much better fate. But if he can just make it home, to his little study where he knowsĀ the small bottle of phoenix tears are stored, he should be able to do somethingĀ to reverse the curse!Ā
He just needs some helpā¦!
Curiosity was the main thing that brought Leo to seeking out the source of the strange noises. Something crashing through the underbrush⦠It was a little concerning, to say the least. Mostly because it didnāt sound like anything he was familiar with. He was just planning to see what it was, make sure it wasnāt something dangerous. That was it.
He was surprised to see it was a person, the possibility having somehow slipped his mind. Not like it mattered a whole lot, not at the moment. Something seemed wrong. If there was something wrong, and this person was out here all by themselvesā¦
āH-Hey, are youā¦ā Okay? His voice faltered at the word, realizing what they answer probably already was. Leo hesitated only for a moment, clearing his throat before calling out to the stranger again. āWhatās wrong?ā There. That was better. Something is obviously wrong, it was just a matter of finding out what it was.
Too distracted by his own distress, Theodore didnāt notice the other man until the very moment he spoke. His head jerked up, then, wide-eyed gaze darting towards the other and while he wouldāve been more cautious had the situation been different, all the wizard felt at that moment was near crushingĀ relief.Ā
āI-I need to...get home,ā Theodore choked out, throat tight. He triedĀ to step closer, but his petrified feet wouldnāt move the way he wanted them to ( how could they?Ā ) and he wouldāve sent himself hurtling face first into the ground had he not kept his hands on the tree for support. As it was, all Theodore managed to do was to stumble into the trunk ( againĀ ).Ā
āShit--ā The wizard swallowed thickly and looked back up at the other, honey eyes pleading and desperate. He wasnāt sure this stranger would understand what he would say next ( then again, maybe he would? His magic certainly seemed to think this guy was a little bit different than othersĀ ) but at this point, Theodore had little choice other than to trust him.Ā āI-I ran into a basilisk hatchling. My-- my feet are... I have to get home, o-or I wont be able to reverse the curse.ā
