ARTHUR ; reliquusrex
He won’t ever admit that there was a slight mocking tone in his voice, but he wouldn’t really want to see Merlin that angry. It was bad enough that when they both got angry with one another, they had turned into it into a fight. He nodded his head, it was a good idea, one he hoped that he could fulfill very soon. “Exactly, no one would question that you went to visit your mother as an emergency and then my excuse in a few days after.” At least in that regard, it would keep his father off of his track, he just needs to be able to go alone.
He gave a small shrug of his shoulders at his words, “I’m honestly interested in seeing what just Arthur is like. I could still throw things at you, as friends of course,” he had that same teasing tone in his voice. He had at admit that he was excited to leave Camelot, even if its just for a few days. Just a few days where the pressures could be lifted off of him. “I am looking forward to it, even if its not forever. It’ll be enough for me.” He knows that once he’s king, he’s not going to be able to anything like this again.
Friends. Arthur had rarely called him that out loud. It warmed him to know that Arthur did consider them friends with each other. Merlin reached out to nudge him playfully and said, "Only not in front of my mother, cause she might yell at you." His mother could be protective, though he was certain that would translate over to Arthur soon enough as well.
"Then perhaps I should arrange to visit my mother more often. She won't mind you visiting more too." Though he worried that his mother might end up questioning his relationship with Arthur. Him, bringing a boy home. He hadn't done that since Will. Hopefully she didn't say anything to the prince because as far as he knew, Arthur didn't like him like that. "You'll like being there. My mother has some apple trees that should be ready to picked this time of the year. They're better to have fresh like that."
