Super duper in love with these shots from @ooblets showcasing some of the (MANY) furniture sets I designed! Propmaking, and specifically, making lil furniture pieces, is by far my most favorite thing ever and I have never felt so fullfilled! <3 #Ooblets

The trick is, there are no shaders set up in my renders, only texture is shown and the rest is unlit! You can probably find a previous ask where I have explained all this in detail! Itâs all in the texturing :DÂ

Ooblets January 2018 Devlog!
Rebecca and Ben here, back again to share another devlog with all of you.
What a month itâs been! Weâve gotten so much done on the game that itâs crazy to look back on everythingâ but thatâs EXACTLY WHAT WEâRE GONNA DO!
Port Forward
You know all those towns that are situated on artificial floating islands you see everywhere? Even Ooblets isnât immune to their presence, because thatâs just what Port Forward is. Itâs the newest region weâve added and itâs also probably the most complete, as well.
The idea behind it is that itâs a little eclectic town that floats in the water. Weâre planning on putting in a few smallish shops in it that youâll be able to visit during and after completing the region storyline. No spoilers, but the story involves ÂĄREVOLUCIĂN!
New Ooblets!
Were you under the misconception that all ooblets were plant-based just because you grow them in the ground? Weâre here with a handful of nooblets to prove you completely wrong once and for all. You should be ASHAMED
Meet Firmo and Sidekey, two new little robotic-themed babs that were designed and modeled by our very talented friend Sander.
And these delightful and distinctive babbos are Gubwee, Kingwa, and Skuffalo. I guess Gubwee is sorta plant-based but thatâs beside the point. These three were all designed by bitmOO and modeled by Sander.
GLEAMIES
Didja know?? Ooblets have different rarity levels, but by far the rarest of all ooblets are their GLEAMY variations.
Theyâre pretty easy to spot in the wild. Battling one has a pretty good chance of producing a GLEAMY seed for you to grow your own GLEAMY.
Why do I keep writing GLEAMY in all caps? you might ask. Well dummy, itâs because THATâS THE OFFICIAL SPELLING. Also it doesnât stand for anything, it just needs to be said with excitement.

New Crafting Machines and UI
Weâve now got a PLETHORA of crafting machines, ranging from your bog standard gooperator to your more high-end soggifier.
Check out these babies! Theyâre ready to ground your springbeans, goop your clustered custard, and slurry your nurnies.

Item Display Slots
It might not sound that interesting, but itâs actually a really cool feature! It allows you to place certain smaller objects on top of other furniture so you can get that Sims 4 style decor going. Eventually youâll be able to place little plants, figurines, trophies, and other junk on your dressers, bookshelves, and tables!
Press!
Cover girl! Ooblets was on !!the cover!! of PC Gamerâs Indie Issue with an awesome article feature. I donât think there are enough adjectives to describe how excited and floored we were about this.
Ooblets was also featured in a bunch of fancy lists for anticipated games of 2018, like IGNâs, GamesRadarâs, Sweety Highâs, and les Inrocksâ (which is French I guess!). Now we just need to get the game finished in 2018âŚ
Patreon News
We had a couple big milestones over the past month or so on Patreon. We surpassed 500 patrons and $1750/m, which is totally nutso. People keep joining all the time so we keep posting more fun stuff:

This past month, patrons have gotten to hear a new music track from the game, seen new ooblet concepts like the ones above, participated in a super secret live stream Q&A we did, got a sneak peek at all the new crafting machines and the new crafting UI, saw some dumb cat gifs of our dumb cats, and hung out in the supporters channel in our Discord.

Hi there!As you probably know already, I'm a 3D artist, I mostly work with the 3D porgram Blender, which is completely free. To make the gifs I use Marmoset Toolbag to generate the turntable, and use the animation tool in Photoshop to make the gifs!hope that helps!Sander

Hi there! whoooh this is a lot of questions! lemme get into i!
First, I should clarify something; I am a freelance game artist, so yes, Iâm working on a game, it is called Ooblets (@ooblets), BUT Iâm not really making it! It is being made by my employers;Â @nonplayercat and @perplamps! (you should follow them) They have been working on Ooblets for a loooong time with just the two of them! I was a longtime fan before I was asked to work on it!
 I do a bunch of fun stuff for the project; I design and make props (a generic gamedesigner term for all types of stuff; furniture, obstacles, decorations,...), I model some Ooblets, sometimes I get to design them too (which is suuuperfun) and I have done some rigging and animation things too!
now we got that out of the way,
1) the official pitch (which is on their website) is: âOoblets is a fun game about farming, creatures and adventureâ (and house decorating, but I might be biased about that cuz...)
2) I believe Ooblets will be released early 2018! I do know for a fact it is coming to Steam (GO WISHLIST IT) and it will be available on XBOX ONE!
3)Well I am 22 atm and I just graduated college where I got a masters degree in videogame design, Iâve been into this for a little while! I went to an art school until I was 18 and then followed my dream of making videogames! During my studies we were taught all aspects of making games (concepting, programming, art, animation, sound) but I chose to specialize in visuals (mostly 3D but Iâve worked on 2D projects too)!
ps videogame school might sound really cool and fun, and it honestly is, but itâs a lot of hard work! (our most common inside joke was that people taught we âplayed videogames as part of our studiesâ, the reality of that was that we had NO FREE TIME whatsoever and had no time to play recreationally)
4) I use Blender for my 3D modelling and Adobe photoshop for texturing!Â
5)Blender is completely free to use so I would recommend getting started in it! lil warning: working in 3D is kinda weird at the beginning, and for me, took about 2 years of practicing before I actually enjoyed doing it! check out the youtube channel PIGART for some basics! (or other youtube channels, thereâs a lot of material out there)
