Do you remember the anime No-Rin? It got quite famous among our circles for one reason: depending on which version of the episode 7 you have, you can have the weight gain scene extended... For those of you unaware, the seventh episode of the anime "No-Rin" had a weight gain scene. But in some versions of the episode the weight gain of the male characters is only visible for two shots in a bathroom scene, then they mysteriously slim down when they step in another room. Yet in a different version of the episode, the male characters retain their gut throughout the scene in the other room... Resulting in two versions of the same scene being shared around.
Here is an edit that an old member of the Big Cartoon Wiki did and shared on the Wiki to show the differences (despite the Wiki splitting it in "dub" and "sub" versions I have found that it is not true because I have found dubbed versions where the boys are slim)
You might think this is a one-case thing, and yet... Look what I discovered today while looking back at one of my favorite gut scenes of old, the one of Blood Blockade Battlefront episode 8.
The picture on the left is from an European dub of the episode. The picture on the right is from the American dub of the episode. Notice a difference? Yes, Zapp suddenly gets slim for one scene. Yet these two pictures are from the exact same scene, right after we discover Zapp's gut. Meaning just like with No-Rin there are two versions of the episode shared across - one with an animation error and another where the animation error was corrected...
I wonder how many more "weight gain episodes" of animes also have dual versions, where an animation error slimmed down the character?
