( sofia carson, twenty-three, cis female ) hey, was that MAEVE WISHART passing by? I didn’t think the PUREBLOOD was a student, but I’d recognize HER anywhere. rumor has it they’re working as a MAGICAL LAW PROFESSOR, so who knows what they’re doing here. they always reminded me of NINE BY SLEEPING AT LAST. I’ve also heard they’ve been recruited by NO ONE. but despite all that I think they’re still DEDICATED, EMPATHETIC & AMBITIOUS and MELODRAMATIC, GUARDED & INDECISIVE. and the RAVENCLAW alum still reminds me of a cup of chamomile tea late at night, a table at the library overcrowded with books and notes, hands clenched into tight fists with no follow through, a perfectly timed hug, carefully calculated chess moves, and a ribbon being pulled at both ends. well, then, I guess some things never change. Maeve’s enneagram is a 9w1, so she’s a peacemaker with a reformer wing. Her peacemaker side is both her greatest strength and her biggest weakness.
+ Her strengths in that is that she cares a lot about people and is often a great person to go for advice because she can help navigate a diplomatic/peaceful solution to problems. Once she has become friends with someone she will love them unconditionally and do virtually anything to make them happy. She’s also friendly, agreeable, adaptable and empathetic.
- Her weaknesses in this though are that she will usually do anything to avoid conflict/confrontation. Maeve is always running assessments in her mind of how big a problem something could turn into if she chooses to stand her ground or not, and if she deems the fight to be too big she will cave to avoid the conflict. Obviously she has her moments of standing up for herself, but more often than not she will fall into people-pleasing tendencies to keep the peace. This also plays a big role in why she wants to stay neutral in the war. A war is a pretty big conflict and she will bury her head in the sand for as long as she can to avoid it.
Maeve is also an ENTJ. Though she technically leans extraverted, she’s more of an ambivert. While around people she thrives and is very social and outgoing, happy to make friends and hangout for as long as anyone wants. But she also genuinely loves being alone too, especially after a long day of classes. She can recharge and refresh herself both ways.

— Maeve is the only child of Frederick and Greer (nee Burke) Wishart. And from an early age, Mae knew being their only daughter that she was going to face a certain amount of pressure to live up to their successes. Her father worked in the Ministry as one of their top Aurors and her mother had a highly successful career as the seeker for Puddlemere United. Looking back on it now, she can’t distinguish what came first. Whether it was her parents seeing a spark in her and feeding the flame to push their daughter into success, or her seeing how great her parents were and internalizing the feeling of having to succeed to make them proud. She knows her parents love her and would have supported her no matter she chose to do with her life, they had always said as much. But she had always paid the closest attention to the small nudges and offhand comments made by them about her needing to strive for excellence since she was capable of it.
— Maeve caused a minor “hat-stall” during her sorting ceremony. The sorting hat was uncharacteristically quiet as it worked through whether to place her in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, citing her fierce loyalty and patience as it’s reasons for her being a Hufflepuff, and her cleverness, creativity in problem solving, and admiration of academics as the reasons for her being a Ravenclaw. The decision came down to Mae herself. All it took was one glance at the Ravenclaw table where she saw wisdom and intelligence beyond compare in their eyes, and she knew that was where she truly belonged. She could see the challenge she would have in proving herself valuable among the ranks of some of the smartest witches and wizards in Hogwarts, and she wanted to rise up to that. Almost as soon as she settled in her mind that Ravenclaw was where she wanted to be, the sorting hat called it out and she spent the next seven years cloaked in blue and bronze.
— In her third year, Maeve tried out for the Quidditch team. Despite a mother who played quidditch professionally, she’d never given the sport much consideration other than it was her mother’s career. It wasn’t until she’d gone to games in her first and second year that she truly fell in love with the sport and the exhilaration she imagined the players would feel as they flew around the pitch. She made the team and spent the next 4 years balancing the team and her studies. But when seventh year came around, she knew something had to give. Prefect duties being added to her plate for the past two years had already taken a toll on her, and while she hated it, she knew Quidditch was the thing she could afford to give up. So she quit in seventh year, prioritizing her education and Prefect position. She still loves quidditch though and tries to go to games as often as she can.
— Growing up, Mae always knew she had to amount to something great. Her parents had told her from the moment she started school that she had so much potential and she was terrified of letting them down. As such, she threw herself into her studies and strived for the best from herself in every course, even taking additional courses that she hadn’t needed just for the sake of pushing herself further. But admittedly she had no true aim in her studies. Maeve had no clue what she wanted to do in her life, all she knew was it couldn’t be an Auror or a quidditch player. She wasn’t going to ride on her parent’s successes. She wanted to make her own path and succeed in her own right. It was in her fifth year that she had stumbled across a magical law book and she knew immediately that was what she needed to study. She excelled in the studies of magical law, so much so that she was practicing it by twenty-one. And only two years into the field, she was approached for a professor position at Hogwarts College which she immediately accepted.
— Maeve is still unsure of where she sits on the Dumbledore pamphlets. While she can see the sense and thinking of the accusations made, she’s not sure she fully trusts the credibility or agendas of the distributors. She’s not sure she fully trusts anyone anymore though. If her studying law solidified anything, it was her knowledge that everyone has a hidden agenda they’re working with, and whether it’s good or bad is anyone’s guess. She does agree though that no one person should have too much power or influence over the wizarding world.

These are just a few potential connections, but I’m open to others or plotting anything out!
Hogwarts fling(s): Maeve may have spent most of her years in school with her nose buried in a textbook, but that didn’t mean she completely neglected her love life. She was too focused on her studies to entertain a real relationship in school, however, everyone needs a study break sometimes and she was more than happy to have a few flings as distractions.
Mentor/mentee: With her being a professor there’s always the potential for her to notice a particularly bright law student and decide to mentor them.
Faction recruitment: Currently Maeve is neutral, and rather stubbornly so. She really isn’t leaning any direction right now. She has spent so long studying law and now teaching it, and therefore wants to believe in the law wholeheartedly. What she really wants though is peace, and this peacekeeping heart could put her in a vulnerable position for recruitment from any of the factions. She genuinely does want the best for everyone, so she could be convinced the way of the Order or the Banneret of Beltane. But she also could be manipulated to the side of the Death Eaters or the Knights of Walpurgis with the right phrases and omissions.
Quidditch: This could go a few directions. She played from third to sixth year which would have been plenty of time for her to develop friendships with teammates, or a rivalry with a chaser from another house. Even after she quit she maintained a love of the sport and tries to keep up with it regularly still, so maybe it could even be someone she bonds/bonded with over a love of the game. This could also be someone who knows of her mom/was a fan of her mom and approached Maeve because of her famous mother.
Childhood/Hogwarts friendship(s): Maeve is a pretty social girl and can make friends with virtually anyone. Blood status, or houses for that matter, have never been high on her list of things to care about when deciding who to associate with. If they’re friendly and easy to talk to, she’s likely to try to strike up a friendship. Because of her parent’s careers she would have mixed with a wide variety of people from an early age. She would have been at the high society, elite events, but she also would have been at general parties where anyone was invited.
High society friendship(s): Because of her father working relatively high up in the Ministry and her mother being so famous, Maeve would have been at some elite events. She probably hated these events, largely because of how disingenuous she would have found people in high society and how she felt pressured to be disingenuous herself in order to fit the perfect Pureblood mould while there. That being said, she’s still Maeve and she still would have tried to make the best of the situation, so she would have tried to make friends at these events. Maybe there’s someone she was pleasantly surprised by and found them to be a lot nicer than she would have thought and now they’re still friends to do this day. Or maybe it’s someone who no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t get along with them and they still can’t stand each other now.
