The Fragile Surrender
โ โโโ โฆ โโโ โ
A glass once shattered by a careless hand,
Can never hold the water as it planned.
Yet here we stand, two ghosts upon the shore,
Afraid to love, yet yearning so much more.
For trust is not a covenant of stone,
Nor is it carved in solitude, alone;
It is the fragile surrender of the chest,
To lay oneโs heart where it may safely rest.
To trust is walking blindfold toward a cliff,
Ignoring every cold, foreboding if.
It is the quiet whisper in the dark,
That promises a flame within a spark.
You offer me the key to ruin you,
And I hand back my deepest vulnerability tooโ
A sacred pact, unspoken, unexpressed,
A silent vow that puts our fears to rest.
Yet betrayed, it rots into a phantom ache,
A heavy, hollow bruise that will not break.
It turns the sweetest honey into gall,
And builds between two souls an iron wall.
For skin will heal, and bone again will mend,
But broken trust is grief without an end.
So hold my truth as if it were your breath,
A sanctuary guarded unto death.
For love may ignite the passion in our veins,
But trust alone is what survives the rains.
Do not promise me the stars above the seaโ
Just prove you will not break the heart in me.
