From Act III of Cyrano Jones, Jughead Double Digest #167 (2011).

A little context: The gang is set to perform a reading of the Edmond Rostand classic play, Cyrano de Bergerac for their drama/literature class. The reluctant Jughead was chosen to play the titular hero while his classmate and rival Trula Twyst was casted to play Roxane, the object of his character’s one-sided affection.

While he was reading the play in his bedroom, Jughead falls asleep and in true Archie comics fashion, dreams about the Cyrano de Bergerac story with himself as the protagonist. In his dream, however, the character of Roxane is no longer played by Trula, but by Betty Cooper. ♥

Look what I found!

I know most of us are familiar with the last 4 panels, but I was always curious about the rest of the comic. I didn’t know the name, just that it was clearly DeCarlo, and I didn’t know the story, so I couldn’t look it up! Lo and behold, here’s the quintessential Bughead story. This one has a lot going on for Betty, I think. We can’t be too hard on her for not jumping to help Veronica. Poor girl just wants an opportunity. I also really love how established her relationship is with Jughead here. It’s SUCH a foreshadower, IMO.

Hope this was enjoyable for you guys! I was so happy to find it in its entirety!

OH! And this one was written by Frank Doyle, who I am now absolutely POSITIVE shipped these two.

Look at how happy Betty became when Ronnie couldn't go to the dance. She knows she is Archie's second choice, and without Ronnie in the picture, he will go to her.

THAT IS TERRIBLE.

Betty deserves better. Betty deserves someone who will put her first.

Awww….. and this is why Betty Cooper seriously deserves better than Archie Andrews who’s always putting her as second place priority. And that Jughead is always the only one who sees all the sacrifice she does for the sake of Archie’s happiness, even if it benefits Veronica eventually. I’m all for Jughead as Ace, cos he’s always been in love with his food, especially burgers since forever, averse to most girls but with a soft spot for his good friend, Betty, cos he knows she’s the best girl anyone could have..and he’s always on her side in the B/A/V love triangle feud….which has always been the case in the comics since the beginning. I just hope to see the great friendship between them on the Riverdale show and i’m happy & contented with that. :) [cred4chan]
