Have you ever felt like you need to detach something but keeps clinging onto you? Like a person or a habit? Because I doâI guess, everyone does. It is annoying, right? Well, you are not the one who is experiencing thisâin short, you are not alone.
Most people are struggling how bad habits affects their daily lives, even in small things like sleeping late because of unnecessary things you keep on doing before you go to sleep and of course, the result is you will wake up late and feel the need to sleep again thus the rest of the day would be unproductive.
So, how are we going to end these unwanted habits? Where and when will we start? What are the things that hinder us from removing these habits, no matter how badly you wanted to get rid of it? Here are some bad habits that we find difficult to stop doing:
Consistently thinking negative things.
Lifestyle such as drinking too much alcohol, eating too much, smoking too much, and etc.,.
Getting away from the things you do not want to leave may be difficult but if it is for your own benefit then, do not be scared to walk away from these things. So, here are some important things you must follow to win the fight against these bad habits.
LIST DOWN ALL THE BAD HABITS YOU WANT TO ELIMINATE
Get a notebook or any paper and a pen or go on your note app and start listing down all the unwanted things you want to get rid of and place the paper where you can easily see it or on the bedside tableâeverywhere as long as it is visible. Trust me, this is effective! List everythingâthere is no limit as much as you think it is needed to be eliminated from your habits. So, every time you lost control and keeps on forgetting what is the main focus and goal why you are doing it, there is a piece of paper or notes that will keep on reminding you!
By listing these bad habits, you will never know that you have a bad habit that you had never notice ever since. Writing is one of the most effective ways to start on this journey, by writing it means you are focusedâyou must be! If you really want to have a better life without any habits that keep your life from getting better, then do this for your own benefit. You will be happy to see the result, sooner or later.
TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME (LEAST TO MOST IMPORTANT)
So, are you finish listing it down? If not, just take your time. After that, let us dive into the next stepâthe application. Of course, do not let those paper stocked and be covered in dust. If you really want to win this fight, you have to take this battle seriouslyâyou have to work to get that crown.
DONâTâdo not do things at the same time, you cannot do that. You can, however, you will be exhausted and later give up on what you are doing. Everyone, even the professionals, starts with the smallest; do not let excitement or pressure eat you up, there will be a big possibility that you will be overwhelmed and lose focus and forget the reason why you need to do it in the first place and that is to get rid these bad habits that keeps you from getting and feeling better.
BE PATIENT. Patience is a virtue; this is what everyone keeps on reminding us. But having patience can lead us everywhereâespecially to our destination which is our goalâbreaking bad habits. We will all reach our goal, you just have to follow your compass and do not, do not get distracted! Distractions can ruin everything, it ruins focus. You can do it, just be patient, and have faith in yourself!
THE FINAL STEP
Is your challenge going well? Is there an improvement? Are you finally setting some of your unwanted habits free? If your answer is yes, then congratulations, you are now at the final step of this journey! But if the answer is no, then it is okay no oneâs pressuring you to finish it instantly, just breathe and be patient. Having a hard time breaking it? Then, probably, you are not serious enough to leave them behind. Breaking bad habits requires commitment, you have to be committed to be able to finish something and claim your victory.
So, what is the feeling of reducing some weights on your body? It is refreshing, right? Well, I would say that the first time is always the hardest, but once you finish the challenge it was worth itâso worth it! So, if you did it pat yourself on the back and say âyou did a great job, self!â and of course, for those who are still having a difficult time you deserve a pat on the back too and tell yourself âyou are doing great, you can do better.â
Finishing the race does not mean you have to stay on the finish line, you have to move forward and start anew. But do not ever come back on what you are beforeâit is finished. You are now in your new self with a new habit that would give you a more stable and peaceful life.
Continue challenging yourself because life without challenge would be boring, right? Yes, I like the spirit! You are better and you can do more. Always take care of yourself because only you can satisfy your needs which is inner peace and a better life. Just keep walking, you have finally walked away with those bad habits never came backâyou can turn your back but never come back. Remember, this is for yourself; you are doing it for yourself and not for others. Change is more meaningful when you are doing it for yourself, my friend.
