Okay, this is the only time I’m gonna say this, but white people, y’all have to be careful of how you talk about Steven now.

A poc still being friends with racist people is bad however, it’s vastly different from a white person being friends with racist people. So many poc go through this stage where we try to conform to white society and that often includes being close with people who would otherwise hate us. Sometimes this goes on a lot longer than you’d want it to. Or you we’ll meet people we really love and then find out months maybe years later that they’re racist. Steven thinking he can change them is a defensive mechanism. It’s a young asian man hoping he can change his friends for the better. It’s no way comparable to a white person knowingly being buddy buddy with racists.

Do not compare Steven to a white person being friends with other white racists. This situation is bad but it’s not the same. Hold him accountable and try to educate him, but do not treat him like a racist white person.
