[ He’s so confused, but not rolling with it might jeopardize their gayness. Big pouty from yours truly. ] Are you sure this will make us extra gay?

I-- you don’t know Dungeons and Dragons?!

[Oh there we go. He’s quickly pulling out a dungeon master guide, and the monster manual.] Alright, so it is this tabletop roleplaying game. You get to be an elf, or dwarf, or gnome -- whatever ya want. You can be a wizard, barbarian, cleric -- all that fancy skyrim stuff. A DM is a dungeon master, the host of the game.

Well, my childhood wasn’t the most peaceful. There was that whole revolutionary war, and the early 1800s wasn’t fun either. But there was this one thing that happened when I was a kid, that I sometimes still think about.

I was somewhere around 10 years old -- physically of course. I was a drummer boy during the revolutionary war. We were sitting around, taking a small break -- I think it was 1781? -- Anyway, we were sitting around resting up. Now, being a child born into war and pretty much slung straight into action sucks. I didn’t get much time to be a kid and run around and go to school and all that kid stuff. But there was this time while we were sitting around, and I was so bored. So bored I tell you! All these grown ups were talking about some battle plans and all this serious business, but I just wanted to go swimming or something. I didn’t even get to be involved in all the planning since I was so young, so I literally just had to sit there and do nothing. 

At that moment, while all these adults are distracted with planning and such, this butterfly comes flying towards me. Small, easily impressed Alfred was immediately captivated by this butterfly. It was blue, and just flying around doing its thing. I got up from the ground and began to walk towards it. It began flying away, so I followed it. I strayed quite far from our camp, chasing this butterfly. I nicknamed him blue, because I was an uncreative child apparently. 

Anyway eventually this butterfly stops running away from me, and began to gently sit on a flower down near my feet. I sat down and watched it do its thing, smiling and fascinated. We’re in the middle of a war, and this butterfly just doesn’t have a care in the world, keeps doing what it wants to do, and gets to do whatever it wants. For a brief moment, I kind of forgot the situation I was in. This butterfly then flew onto my finger, and boy I felt so blessed. It chose me! It didn’t run from me. I spoke to it, saying hello and all that. It then flew onto my nose and just kind of. Sat there. I didn’t move, fearing I’d scare it. At that moment I hear “Alfred, get back here right now!” in the distance. I cautiously got up to not scare the butterfly on my nose, and began making my way back to camp.

I got back, the butterfly now on my finger, and I just tell them. ‘I saw this butterfly and I wanted to hold it.’ I guess because I was just. So young and cute and innocent I don’t know, they didn’t get mad. They just told me to make sure I tell someone in future. It was nice I mean. They allowed me to just, have that child innocence for a moment. I was just a kid, stuck in a terrible gloomy situation, and wanted to explore some child curiosity. And they let me have that moment. I thought it was nice.

Yaass. We’re stronger together if we’re gay together. We have to let the people know.
