yes tyler is a freak with anger issues who enjoys inspiring fear in others but he can also be sensitive, thoughtful and kind. he is incredibly smart, competent and manipulative but he gives off the impression of a needy, weepy eyed puppy left in a cardboard box. *slaps tylers roof* this baby is capable of multitudes.

idk why we everyone thinks that wednesday only likes monsters, killers, psychopaths and dark, violent people when her two closest friends in s1 are enid and eugene. sweet, bubbly, kind, innocent enid and eugene. theyre outsiders like wednesday but not willingly, they enjoy company and they would love to make friends and be part of a group, they just dont fit in. therefore i dont think its that hard to believe that there are parts of normie soft boy tyler that wednesday naturally gravitated towards. because in many aspects, he is like enid and eugene in s1. he is sweet, funny, charming, always ready to help and endorses wednesdays weirdness. he is an outsider. the fact that he ends up being a hyde is a pleasant bonus but not necessary for wednesdays attraction to him. what even tyler himself doesnt understand is that wednesday liked that awestruck puppy eyed boy with witty humour. i think it adds kind of another layer to the betrayal and heartbreak she is going through in s2. not only did tyler lie to her about his feelings, but he transformed into a whole different person. that boy wednesday fell for doesnt exist, and as far as she is concerned, has never existed. he was a ploy, a trick and its all the more confusing because she is furious that she fell for the ploy, but deep down there is a part of her that still longs for it.
