im honestly terrified to share my art instagram on my main bc my mom, my in-laws, and everyone i went to school with studying what im trying to learn on my own might see it n think, gee, that’s what she’s wasting her time on??? i want to have some paintings im proud of done before i do that but they are gonna look weird, ugly, n… creepy. i feel like i gotta remind myself of all the embarrassing photographs i shared while i was learning but i don’t have the safety net of bein a dumb kid anymore. it’s scary.
I understand this 100%. Inadequacy is like the number 1 thing I’ve been feeling lately and it’s really hard not to compare yourself to others. That being said, when you make it to the point where you are happy with your work, no one is going to be saying, “oh well Sally got there first,” or whatever... they’re gonna be like “damn look how far SHE got! you know what I mean? Idk this was half a response to ur post, half me trying to convince myself not to feel like shit for the lack of goo work I’ve produced post-grad.
Not having the safety net of being a student sure does suck though, I tell you what.
But, even though you may not feel confident in what you’re doing, it’s inspiring to someone out there (me), and I think that’s worth sharing. Plus, it’s fun to look back and see growth! :)
