ââŚunlike speech, a logogram is free of time. Like their ship or their bodies, their written language has no forward or backward direction. Linguists call this non-linear orthography, which raises the question, âIs this how they think?ââ âIan Donnelly, Arrival (2016)
theknlghtofnlghtâ:
âOkay. Okay.â Bruce took a deep breath. Just had to- take it all in. Thereâs a person here. An alien. An actual fucking alien. Oh my god, aliens exist. And he just talked to one.
Bruce snapped back to attention when the other looked back at him. Now was no time to question his place in the universe. There were things to be done, shit to do, damn it! Harley wasnât going to wait on them.
  âNo. No idea. I-â
A noise. Coming from Harleyâs office. Bruce looked towards it, then back at the man, The Doctor, apparently.
  âHarley!â
The Doctor raised his eyebrows when the noise was heard, speaking softly. âIf it is indeed Harley, go and check it out first-she may be happier to see a familiar face before I poke my head in. Unless sheâs seen this face before. Time travel, you can meet people in the wrong order. The first time I ever met my wife was the last time she met me.â A sadness filled the Doctorâs eyes before gesturing to Bruce to move to the office. âDonât worry, Iâll be right behind you if anything goes awry. You can trust me on that.âÂ

"Hello? Harley? John?" Bruce asked cautiously as he stepped into the Pact's hiding place and general resting spot. Well, that wasn't quite accurate. Ever since the raid they'd conducted on Sanctus, the Pact had been disbanded. It was no more any longer.
Tapping his earpiece, Bruce walked further into the overturned mess. "Alfred, I'm at the subway. No sign of Harley or the virus. No sign of anyone, actually."
Taking a deep breath, Bruce scanned the area. Relief briefly flowed through him when he spotted the container Mr. Freeze had been talking on. Relief that was immediately dissipated when he saw it was empty.
"It's gone. The vials are gone. Damn it. Harley must have already been here and taken Riddler's blood to mix it with the virus."
Bruce shook his head with dismay. "Where could Harley be?" He mused to himself aloud.
âShe is. Although sheâs also incredibly violent. Prone to outbursts of anger. Part of her hereditary infliction.â Bruce remarked. Watching the strange man, he bit his lip until he felt blood.
âDaleks?â He asked. He had no idea what the other was going on about. He probably should be acting a lot more cautious than he is right now.
This man, The Doctor was right. It did sound mad. But somehow, Bruce didnât feel like he was lying. He knew liars. Liars had a certain stench. This man? Didnât.
He cringed just a little at the sudden touch. Bruce didnât like being touched. Ironic for the playboy, but that was just a front. He preferred a bit of warning before then, especially by strangers.
âBruce. Bruce Wayne.â He glanced back, hoping the man would take the gesture as a sign to let go. âIf what you say is true, then what do we do? Harley still has the virus and the vials of Riddlerâs blood are gone. The only possible antidote.â
The Doctor read Bruce's glance loud and clear, removing his hand from his shoulder. "If Harley is the only person carrying the virus then we need to make sure it doesn't fall into anyone else's possession. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure, and the future where it spreads can be prevented." He turned and sprung toward the direction he originally came from before turning on his heel to look back at Bruce.
"That's where you really come in Bruce. It's still contained, and time can be rewritten, save for fixed points. But nevermind all of that now, we need to at least keep an eye on Harley. Any idea where she may be right now? And hopefully there aren't any others who know about this, and if they do we need to keep an eye out for them."

theknlghtofnlghtâ:
â-What?â Bruce blinked. Heâs confused. Very confused. What was this man talking about? Space? Time travel? What the fuck?!
âForgive my language, but what the hell are you talking about?â He asked. Something was very, very strange about this man, just in case that hadnât been established already.
âSir, whatâs going on?â Alfred asked. Bruce turned away to touch his earpiece and mutter, trying to make it so the other man couldnât hear.
âItâs a man, Alfred. Apparently someone who travels time and space? Who was drawn here due to the virus.â
âSir, can you really trust him? He sounds- well- not quite right in the head, to put it bluntly.â
âIâll be careful, Alfred.â Bruce said before turning back to the other. âOkay. Iâll answer your questions, but you have to answer mine as well. For your initial questions, thereâs a virus developed by Sanctus, the group I mentioned before. It tears apart people from the inside. Though Iâm not sure how it could have spread already. Harley only has one vial of the virus, and I doubt sheâd waste it infecting other people. She wants it to cure her hereditary illness.â
âOf course Iâll answer any questions you have. Seems weâre in this together now, whether we like it or not.â The Doctor listened and nodded to the otherâs explanation. âThat sounds about right to what Iâve seen. This Harley sounds like a bright one, Iâd like to perhaps meet her someday.â He shook his head and smiled. âTo cure a hereditary illness...the road to hellâs always paved with good intentions, eh? And, well, if it spread through time and space that means that someone in the future was either infected with it or had obtained it somehow-another who has the ability to time travel. Potentially someone with a motif to cause harm through the universe...like the Daleks.â He stood in silence for a moment, crossing his arms and groaning.Â
âRight, you asked âWhat the hell are you talking about?â I think Iâve enough to trust you with my information. This is going to sound absolutely mad to you, I know it. Iâm called the Doctor, Iâm a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey. I travel through time and space, helping wherever I may stumble upon trouble or where trouble leads me, such as this situation. I help not for fame, or glory, or even to have a following. I do it simply because itâs kind.â The Doctor placed his hand on the otherâs shoulder, smiling softly. âIf you trust me, Iâd like to know who you are.Â

Bruceâs gaze followed the other manâs movements. Watched as he put the strange object in his pocket. Frowned as the other man spoke in such anâŚ..eccentric manner. Interesting.
âUh- No. Iâm not staying here.â He bit his lip a bit. âHow did you get here? Why are you here?â He asked instead of answering the otherâs questions.
After listening to the other, Bruce felt- off. Like- incredibly off. How did this man know about the virus, and yet didnât?Â
âHow do you know that somethingâs going on? As far as Iâm aware, the Agency has been keeping everything under wraps. That was part of the main reason I had to maintain my cover with The Pact. I betrayed Selina so Sanctus wouldnât know that we knew they were still active.â
The Doctor liked where this was going, a slight smirk appearing on his face. âAgency keeping things under wraps? Cover? Betrayal? Oh dear me, you are someone who can help me!â He walked toward the other with a soft chuckle, rubbing his hands together. âWell then, Iâve come here because in my travels it seems thereâve been quite a few deaths-strange deaths, to be exact. It seems at this point, multiple individuals throughout time and space have suffered from this. Nothing to cause alarm in one particular point, but on the scale Iâm speaking of itâs been hard to ignore. And, well, I can never resist walking right up to an anomaly and poking it with a stick.âÂ
He sighed softly, still smiling. âI was able to get a sample and track it back here, to this point and time on Earth. In any case, you seem to be a little more versed in whatâs going on.âÂ
The Doctorâs posture and mood seemed to do a complete 180, from a somewhat joyous tone to a more serious, moody one. He lowered his voice. âNow, tell me. What exactly is going on, and why does Gotham seem like such a hotspot for it?âÂ

Still in the midst of trying to figure out where Harley could be, Bruceâs head snapped up when he heard the sound of a bottle breaking and someone falling.
âAlfred. Thereâs someone else here with me.â He muttered into his earpiece, lowly. He didnât want to be caught off guard, found because he was too loud.
âBe careful, sir. I recommend you use caution, especially now with the virus on the loose.â
âIâll be careful, Alfred.â He remarked before approaching the noise. Imagine his surprise when he found, not Harley, but a man heâd never seen before, with a sort of- object in his hands. It was long and looked elaborate. Like nothing heâd ever seen.
âCan I help you?â He asked, stance on the defensive just in case. The object in the manâs hand didnât look like any gun heâd seen before, but then, who knew with this man?
âAh, hello!â The Doctor replied when he saw the other man in front of him. As he got up, he put the sonic screwdriver back in his inner coat pocket. âSorry, I didnât mean to intrude on anything...are you staying here? Or have you any idea whatâs going on here?â He wasted no time jumping into questions, eager for some answers.Â
âSorry, getting ahead of myself. Yes, well, thereâs something going on. Something big, bigger than one could imagine, something thatâs threatening way more than one could imagine and my investigation lead me here. So! If you know anything of that, I feel itâd be appropriate-I suppose this is a roundabout way of saying yes, you can help me.âÂ

âQuite the location for something of this sort.â The Doctor muttered to himself, stepping out of the TARDIS and into the subway. When he closed the door, he gently patted the blue box. âIâll be back dear, donât you worry. I just need to find out why that sample brought us here, and if thereâs any way to cure it before it gets out of hand.â He locked the doors behind him, making his way down the platform to see what he could find. He took out his sonic screwdriver to see if it could relate anything the the scan he took earlier. That, and of course it was a great door opener. The signal lead The Doctor closer and closer to what looked like a settlement of sorts, maybe a hideout. âNow this isnât what Iâd expect...â In that moment he tripped over a bottle, he surely wouldâve alerted anyone whoâd been nearby. Only one thing to do; try and talk his way out of it.Â

hey! so for those of you who didnât already know, i currently live in Japan, where same-sex marriage is not yet legal. tomorrow afternoon, the Japanese Diet is having a hearing concerning same-sex marriage, and theyâre âgauging interestâ based on the viewership of the livestream. basically, if people donât watch, theyâll just write off the issue as niche and avoid it for as long as possible.
iâm posting about this here because, for ~some reason~, the hearing is to start at 1pm. on a regular thursday. when people are at work.
so, for those of you who will be awake at 1pm JST on thursday the 26th of november, i ask you to please contribute to the youtube live viewer count. iâll put the link in a reblog.
thanks in advance!

âWell, that runs in the family. You may recall that I was the one who got all soft and sentimental about humans first.â She conceded, reaching out to put a hand on his arm, âI know he meant a lot to you once and I know how hard it is to let go of those old attachments. But I worry one day he will succeed in taking you from me like he took David.â
âYou know, sometimes I think thereâs something wrong with this regeneration.â She admitted, staring at her own hands critically, âI was never angry like this before. Never this ready for a fight. It fit really well during The War, but nowâŚâ
âI wonât let that happen to me. Iâll sooner die from old age than by the hands of the Master or any of my other adversaries. I can promise you that.â A soft chuckle came from him, his eyes dimming a little bit. He simply wanted to assure his granddaughter that he would be completely fine. He was the âking of okâ after all. âThatâs the issue with regeneration. One can never be sure what the next one will hold...I wish I could say that these last few regenerations havenât been as battle ready but I spent a lot of time in that war and I think itâs affected me for the long term.â He sighed heavily, his lips curling inward before speaking again. âI try not to travel alone these days because I know what may happen if I do. Iâve become rather unpredictable. I mean, I know Iâve always been but now it seems considerably more dangerous.âÂ

âLetâs hope this works then.â She replied, nodding at him. She took a deep breath to steady herself before she let her body fall limp against the chains, her head bowed and eyes shut as she prayed the guards that would come in would pity her. âReady.â She breathed out to him, wanting to get this over with already.
âAlright. Here goes nothing, eh?â He took a deep breath, and called for the guards. âGuards! Oi, guards! My cellmate here seems to have passed out! I would be able to help, but not much I can do when Iâm chained up here!â It wasnât long until the sound of the door being unlocked was heard, and soon the guard stormed in, asking what all the noise was about. The Doctor once again explained that she was unconscious. âExecuting a person who is conscious is certainly more entertaining for the public, wouldnât you say? Believe it or not, I am a doctor and I can help her. I may be the best youâve got right now.â The guard gave some thought and reluctantly let the Doctor loose first and soon Ophelia, the Doctor taking hold and setting his daughter on the floor. He could see his sonic strapped to the side of the guard, his mind racing for where to go next. âOkay, you know what to do now.â he whispered to Ophelia, readying to make a run for it.Â
itâs actually illegally hilarious that no one told the brigadier jamie was from the 1700s until decades after they met. the brigadier just thought he was a fucking wild card who carried a legitimate dagger with him everywhere. the brigadierâs like maybe iâm just out of touch with fashion and didnât realize kilts were chic again. brigadier went âso this is an adult man who doesnât know what a computer is or how train stations work but who am i to judge?â literally no joke dr who can ever actually write will be as funny as this was

âIâm not just a teenager and Iâm not angsty with raging hormonesâ he says angrily his hands clenching his plate angerly. âI fought in the war, I lost everything, I have every right to be angry at youâ he says taking a breath as he tried to calm himself down though all he really wanted to do was punch the man
âYouâre not the only one who lost everything.â The Doctor replied sternly. âIf you think the decision was easy, it wasnât. The weight I have to carry on myself is greater than any punishment I could ever receive. It was either end everything then and there or let it go on and risk the safety of all time and space.âÂ
Jax clenched his teeth angry tears running down his face his hands clenched around his plate. âWhat is that supposed to make me feel better, that your hurting? That makes it all ok that my family is gone and my home is gone because you feel bad about it? I wish I had stayed there and died and saved you the trouble!â he yells not able to stop himself from sobbing now as he dropped the plate and curled into a ball in the corner.
âBelieve me! If I couldâve done it any other way, I wouldâve!â He watched as Jax curled up in the corner, silence from the Doctor. âIâm sorry. From the deepest part of my soul, Iâm sorry. I mean that. If you want me to leave you alone, I will. I understand your frustration with me.âÂ

âI think theyâd really appreciate that, whether you look like a twelve year old or not.â She teased, âYeah, Iâm starting to think we should explain regeneration a little earlier in our friendships. Trying to explain it to Ian while I had regeneration sickness was not the highlight of my day. I mean, it wasnât the low light, either, obviously it wasnât as bad as the actually dying part.â
âOh, no, I donât think he had that potential.â She admitted hesitantly, âHe took after David a lot, one heart, aged like a human, didnât have much in the way of telepathic abilities⌠I wanted to try and get him into the Academy on Gallifrey anyways, but it wasnât meant to be. He died helping save the world from a Dalek invasion when he was eighteen. So I guess he got something from our side of the family after all.â
âPart Time Lord? Wow. Yeah, thatâs not something I would have seen coming.â She laughed, but quickly sobered, âGrandfather, the last time I saw The Master, I left him insane and half burned to death on Tersurus and frankly if I ever see him again it will be far too soon. And if he knows whatâs good for him, heâll be doing everything in his power to make sure our paths never cross because I will not make the mistake of leaving the job of killing him half finished twice.â
@godsdwâ
âI suppose weâll see if he turns up again, then. Saw him my last regeneration...Rassilon and the Time Lords, white point star. Unsure if you were aware of all that. Not sure what happened to him at this point.â He sighed, looking down and fell silent for a moment. âI know all of the trouble heâs caused. And sometimes, I wish I could just let go of that friendship we had back at the academy. Part of me knows thereâs still the person he used to be inside his hearts, but itâs been nearly a thousand years since...But I know you donât have the same connection to him I had. Heâs hurt, killed even, countless times. And thatâs not something I want to condone.â He looked to his granddaughter, giving a nervous chuckle with a bit of a choke. âSorry. You know how close I get to people and how hard it is for me to distance myself.âÂ

Adrenaline pumped through her veins as she watched Cybermen gather in. She dashed around, adjusting the wires and looking up. Timing was crucial. Straightening up, she kicked over a bucket of water and pressed down on her sonic, watching in satisfaction as the Cybermen screamed and were electrocuted. Darkness clouded her face as she waited for the last one to fall before a brighter appearance covered the Doctorâs face ad she grinned at her younger self. âSo! We probably shouldnât hang around. Dâyou want a lift in my TARDIS?â
@rainbcwheartsâ
The younger Doctor looked on as his future self fried the Cybermen, watching closely so the events would be able to play out correctly when he would eventually become her. They always seemed very analytical, but somewhat careless when a trap was right in front of them. As the smoke faded from the room and the last Cyberman fell, he cleared his throat and before he said anything she mentioned a trip in the TARDIS. âOh, of course I would! Iâm sure sheâll be surprised to see this face again. Or not, who knows with that one.â He chuckled, clapping his hands together. âSo, Doctor! Lead the way!âÂ
