hey :)) I’ve been put into an ensemble that I feel like the calibre is a bit too easy for me. I don’t want to come across as arrogant or anything like that, but I would like to try playing in the ensemble that’s the next level up. But at the same time there are musicians in the group that are better than me, and if I asked to be moved up, then my leader might think that I think I’m better than what I am?¿? Idk if this makes sense or not... sorry ://
Hey! It’s so awesome that you want a bit of a challenge, it is not arrogant at all, it just shows that you want to refine and improve as a player. Please don’t be worried about what your leader may think, everyone here is super chill and supportive. That being said, ensemble placements are generally based on playing ability, with older year 12 students given priority. There is always the opportunity for every student to advance into higher level ensembles, so keep practicing and taking initiative in rehearsals. You can also speak to your instrumental teacher or ensemble leader if you feel that you want to advance, we always want our musos to be placed in an ensemble suited to them.
Hope this helps!
