How I Got Into Georgetown (super gay secrets!!!)
Hey everybody itâs me, Macky, coming to you from my cozy little dorm desk on the hilltop at Georgetown University. Here at Gtown we pride ourselves in being a competitive top-tier school that pumps out tons of politicians and also attracts Raven Symone in that one movie from 2008. But like our competitors at Cornell, Duke, and similar old east coast institutions with historically all-white and all-male populations we have diversified over the past century and weâre also hella proud of that too. Try to step onto our campus without hearing about our strides to become the first U.S. university to hire Muslim, Hindu, and Jewish chaplains.Â
Itâs no secret that these days with all college applications being crapshoots and number games that high school seniors are more worried about having the right âhooksâ more than anything else. Thereâs this idea that being any sort of minority already gives you a slight leg up at Harvard; throw in a sob story about having to work three jobs to support your family or being given a hard time by immigration and BAM! Cambridge, Mass here you come.
Iâm not gonna lie guys... that is how it goes for some people. The pressure to make yourself stand out in essays with these coveted âoppressedâ labels is very real. Myself being an immigrant, person of color, woman, kid from the hood, and lesbian naturally gave me a lot of labels to model in front of admissions. And damnnnnnnn that was one killer essay I sold myself on.
Here it is in all its glory folks.... the topic I decided to showcase as the feature presentation was:
Pizza......
My ticket to Georgetown during a year in which 87% of applicants were DENIED came to me hot nâ ready in a cardboard box courtesy of Papa John.
WHAT?!?!?!!!!!??? What about the gayness!?!?! The spectacular rainbow tears and fight I put up against the adversity of racism and systemic poverty cycle?!?!?!?!??!Â

I told yâall I wasnât gonna lie. Alrighty guys this was my first blog post EVER and tbh Iâm not sure at alllllllllll how this thing works. This is really just a place for me to spill out all of my mind crap in relativity to college life and admissions. Iâm a freshman in college and still pissed with how stressed out I was as a senior facing rejection the pressure to âsell myselfâ out of pity or whatever. Long story short I just wasnât having that and so I decided to go against what everyone else was telling me and just talk about what I wanted to. There really is no secret to getting into the ivy league or other elite schools. This is just my story and, honestly, Iâm glad I got to tell it the way that I did.Â
