After a very relaxing honeymoon, it was time to move. After spending her entire life in Virginia, it was time to give the West Coast a try. Moving day was relatively smooth and organized, and Nova was enjoying the chill vibe that Mace created. All she really needed to do was add to it, starting with a new painting for the living room.

Listening to Sade on the impeccable sound system, Nova made a small workstation with her canvas and paint in the kitchen, with the proper protective coverings. Adding strokes to the canvas, she peaked over to find Mace walking in. “Hey hun, what’s up?” she asked with a smile.

His mother was trying her best to come interrogate Nova, and they agreed this would be their time and after family day they'd open up to friends and family. All the boxes were in the house among some furniture he needed to put together. He'd just bought the house before he flew out for the wedding, because he wanted them to actually start fresh.

"What you in here working on?" He pulled from the blunt he had in his hand, and placed the laptop on the island in the middle of the kitchen. Now that he was back home he had to get back to work, teaching. He was an English professor at the neighbourhood high school. Mace was working his way to get into LSU. "Some of these kids let me being going Friday get to their heads, some of these essay should be way better." He shook his head.

“Well, hopefully this painting I’m doing will make you feel better. After all, it’s what I promised,” she responded, adjusting her bra strap. She was just used to being in her bra and shorts on hot days like this, and trust… it was severely hot in LA. "Yeah, there goes my supermodel." Mace snapped and laughed. Nova was definitely fun to be around, and that made this easier for him. It made him want to naturally be romantic. "Cmere." He said once he finished. His brown skin goddess walked through the waters and when he kissed her it was deep.

Mace thought the cameras would effect his actions, but his tongue danced around her mouth and when they were done he smiled against her lips. "So tell me, what was little Nova liked." His armed draped around her shoulder as they walked down the beach.

“Little Nova, huh?” Walking on the beach, Nova was about to give a little insight on her private side. Mace already opened up a bit to her, so it was only right.

“Well…” she began. “I am the youngest of six and the only girl. So, as you can imagine, my dad and brothers were super protective. With dating and everything else. Very much into music and art. But, I was also sick for a while.”

Taking a deep breath, she continued. “I was diagnosed with leukemia when I was three. Battled it for a while, doing chemo and radiation, spending a lot of my growing up in the hospital. I finally went into remission when I turned 7, and I have been in remission ever since. I was one of the lucky ones, and I don’t take it for granted. That’s why I perform for the local children’s hospital from time to time. Just to bring some light to those kids, especially being one of them.”

Mace would have never imagined Nova went through all that she went through. He was at a loss for words for a second, and all he did was squeeze her a little tighter and peck her forehead. "So basically lil Nova was a fighter, and now big Nova is a champion." He chuckled. In this moment it felt good to be getting to know her. He'd never had this feeling, and was hoping when they travelled back home it followed them. "How did your family feel about this process?"

Relishing in his sweet embrace, Nova continued, “Well, surprisingly, my parents were all for it. My parents got married after a month of dating themselves, so this is kinda nothing new. My brothers needed the convincing.” Nova laughed a little bit. Her brothers, aged 38 to 29, were definitely overbearing and super protective of her, but eventually they would come around. “All they want is to see me happy, and they seem to be more at ease at the wedding. So, you have any siblings?”

Mace made a mental note that on family day he would have to really impress the brothers, but it was a relief to hear that the parents were already on his team. "An older sister that is the golden child, then me the one they have crazy expectations for, and last we have the two twins that run my parents now." He laughed, thinking about his biracial family. "The siblings are the least of your problems, well except for my older sister Cheerish, she is a little bipolar so you'll learn to ignore her. Mom is sceptical and dad follows her wave." He knew that all he had to say was the right things to his mom for her to be team them.

Mace didn't have the best track record, but something felt different about Nova. The couple walked down the aisle to the reception hall.

Once they were seated they had a few minutes alone before the guest came in. "Well I'm Mace, your husband I guess." He laughed.

Nova chuckled a little bit as he couldn’t even wait for the pastor to give him the go-ahead to kiss her. That was exactly the spontaneous spirit that she was, and she went all in as well. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she allowed him to let the kiss linger a bit.

Once they had some alone time, they finally introduced themselves to each other. “Hi, Mace,” she said with a chuckle. “I’m Nova, your wife of… 10 minutes.” She could tell he had a bit of a sense of humor. “So, tell me a little bit about yourself, just to start off.”

"Well I'm an English teacher at Booker T Washington charter school, I also am the football coach for LSU." Mace hadn't had the job for more than two months, and he loved saying that he was the coach because he worked hard to get there. Next it was to teach, but he was going to take his time slow with his career for now. "So, you'll be moving to LA if you don't already live there, do you?" He chuckled, not knowing how this was supposed to go.
