Viggo actually saying something assuring to Stoick. “Don’t worry, I’ll bring him back to you unharmed.” No mockery, no smirks or any doubts in his face. Just pure assurance and chivalry to the father.
Viggo would be pretty damn chivalrous if he was a good guy, especially when "courting" someone. (He would never call it dating, neither in the Viking era or modern.)
Though now of course my mind is coming up with Viggo saying this in a situation in which he's kidnapped Hiccup. Because that's me.
Okay, we all know that Viggo Grimborn is extremely intelligent, but everyone does something stupid every now and then—like looking for something you’re already holding, tripping, or dropping something… the list of silly things goes on and on. Do you think these kinds of things happen to our genius too, and does he feel stupid when they do? And how would he react if that happened?
Well, our genius is also very clearly sleep deprived! Viggo has definitely made weird mistakes in the middle of the night and is grateful he's the only one awake to have witnessed that. During the day? Depends on his current sleep debt and his stress level, but he definitely has done silly things that Ryker gets on his case for. Like accidentally putting his charcoal in his drink. I can definitely see him looking for something he's already holding as well, and Ryker just watches in amusement as Viggo gets more and more frustrated. Finally, Viggo gets angry with him.
"Why aren't you doing anything, Ryker? I need to find that damn map!"
"It's in your hand."
"What?"
"It's been in your hand this entire time."
Viggo would then realize this and want to sink through the floor and disappear. Ryker thinks this is the funniest thing ever.
"Tell anyone about this and you're getting demoted."

Had a dream the other night that I was writing a whump fic, and got woken up in the middle of it. In my bleary, still half-asleep state, I was like, "oooh this is goooood. I gotta make note of this so I can write it!"
And then a few hours later, I opened my notes and was like ??? because:
I think the idea was that Viggo captures Hiccup and has a fake foot made for him (like a wooden one carved in the shape of an actual foot that he can wear a boot over), so that when the riders come to rescue him, they won't recognize him because he's got two legs. 🤣
Why do I kind of want to write this as a crack fic now?!

...unless he's losing to Ryker. Then all of that gets thrown out the window.
