On October 17th, 2018, 18 year old Vladislav Roslyakov killed 20 people and injured over 70 more in a shooting at the college Kerch Polytechnic in Kerch, Crimea before shooting. Crimea is a location nearby Russia and Ukraine.
Vladislav Igorevich Roslyakov ( ΠΠ»Π°Π΄ΠΈΡΠ»Π°ΜΠ² ΠΜΠ³ΠΎΡΠ΅Π²ΠΈΡ Π ΠΎΡΠ»ΡΠΊΠΎΜΠ²) was born on May 2nd, 2000 in Kerch, Crimea. He enjoyed drawing, cars, and small animals, according to his parents. His father, Igor, was an abusive alcoholic who hurt anyone, family and neighbors included. His parents divorced when he was 10 years old. He was poor, living in a small apartment with his mother. He visited his grandparents often, since they lived nearby.
His mother became a Jehovahs Witness, yet Vladislav did not care much for this. She limited what he could do because of this. He could not watch movies or have a computer, although he would use one behind her back at the library and was able to use one later in his life. A teacher convinced his mother to buy it for him. Vladislav burned a bible before his attack, signaling he was an athiest. He joked about the Jehovahs witnesses. He also mentioned not believing in a heaven or hell. He was punished by his mother often because of religion. He was unable to do activities after school. He was also punished for his alternative style, which did not align with her values. Jehovahs witnesses became illegal in the area. His mother stayed a member.
He was more interested in punk music, weapons, and sports. He would play sports with other people, usually men way older than him. He did not care much for studying or school. He was seen as very attractive to girls, but he did not care for them either, avoiding them. He became socially isolated since he began to be seen by others as strange. In 5th grade, he fought another student. He had a YouTube channel, Bigslims, where he posted Minecraft videos. He was allegedly far right but later changed to being a leftist while still having a mix of both sides views.
At Kerch Polytechnic, which he began attending in 2015 at 15 years old, Vladislav was studying to become an electrician on a free tuition. He lived with a friend in the dormitory after having to take 40 minute bus rides to and from the college. During college, he would bring knives to class, although he would go through metal detectors, which did not work. He was not a fan of Kerch school. He was withdrawn. He talked about columbine, which scared other people. He was bullied at school by students and teachers. He would threaten others. He set of pepper spray in class once, and wouldnt tell anyone his motive for doing it. He became friends with a group of students at school, but was not a big part in their group. He got arrested a couple times for drinking. He found no escape in his life, finding no peace with anything. He began to isolate from his parents and would talk violently about other people. He talked online on serial killer groups and would talk about hating other people and lacking empathy. He did not hide his fascinstion. He would play school shooter mod games and would threaten to kill others and himself. He had one crush on a girl and was afraid he would scare her. He talked online with her quite often. He had made plans with her the day of the massacre.
Preperation: At 18 years old, he cluld legally obtain a weapon. On September 8th, 2018, he bought a shotgun using stolen money. He obtained the weapon easily and legally. He removed family photos featuring him. He destroyed the photos in the same fire as the bible mentioned previously. He also burned his phone and flashdrives. His mother knew about his gun and did not like it. On October 13th, he bought 150 rounda of ammo. He built bombs and skipped school to be with his mother.
October 17th, 2018. Vladislav left after his mother left for work. He wore a homemade white shirt with black text that read "ΠΠΠΠΠΠΠ‘Π’Π¬" meaning hatred , and he wore black pants. He wore this outfit to resemble Eric Harris, one part of the columbine shooter pair. He filled his backpack with explosives and knives. He also put a gun in his duffel bag. He arrives at Kerch Polytechnic and went in through a side door. He talked to a friend and went into a bathroom to hide the bag with the gun. He then put explosives around the school and sat on a bench and then put his backpack in the cafeteria. He took off his jacket and then began to speed walk down the halls towards the bathroom. The nail bomb he made went off. the explosion destoryed parts of the school and injured many students. The bomb was full of many metal items. The explosion killed an unknown amount of people. He got his gun from the bathroom. He shot a teacher and students were running. He began to shoot whoever he saw. People ran wherever they could. He went through the staircase, shooting anyone who was there. He would throw explosives to allow time for reload. He shot another teacher who tried to stop him. He fired through a window in another stairwell. As he walks down these stairs, he shoots a fire extinguisher and walks back and forth before shooting at computers in a classroom He stayed in. He went up the stairs and shot a teacher and the vice principal. Police arrived, and Vladislav went to the library. There, he shot himself in the mouth. He committed suicide against the bookshelves line Eric Harris. His face was basically blown off. Footage of most of the massacre exists online. 20 victims, 5 staff members and 14 students. Vladislav died aswell leaving 21 people dead on this day. Over 70 were injured.

Students returned to school on October 23rd, 2018 with extra security. Memorials and funerals occured. Vladislav had an autopsy and was meant to be buried 2 weeks after victims. His mother attempted suicide after hearing what he had done and while she got her apartmeng searched she had a seizure. She had many jehovahs witnesses items in her apartment. His father blames the internet. The victims families recieved around $13,500 in united stated dollars.
