My most controversial opinion (exaggerating) is that you can "just identify" as intersex almost the same way anyone can Just Identify as any other flavor of queer. You do not need a doctor's clearance to say you're intersex— yes, it absolutely helps to confirm, on account of intersexuality being much more physical body-focused than other queer labels! But you do not need their permission to identify with a first and foremost socially & politically-charged label, especially if you already have good reason and/or evidence to feel like you fit under the umbrella. You know how your own body feels best, after all?

"Oh what if they're wrong—" GOOD, MOTHERFUCKER! If they learn they were wrong but they've gotten immense amounts of support and knowledge from us, guess who's likely to become a valuable ally? What would happen if they were right and you shunned them because you didn't think they're "intersex enough"?? What if they WERE wrong but they're scared of saying it because they think you'll yell at them for "deceiving them" or some equally stupid shit? And ultimately, fuck man, let people be wrong! It doesn't matter as much as you think it does!

Kinda makes me sad even in reblogs of my posts, particularly the intersex ally one recently, where people think they need their doctor's clearance of having an accepted intersex variation to identify as such. Like actually! I don't care about that! You can just pick it up right now if you really want! And figure out the medical shit later! Any person who insists you have to know your variant AND have it professionally diagnosed is not someone worth listening to!

Fuck! Be queerer! Fuck you if you think "too many people are identifying as intersex" GOOD!!!!!! I believe TOO LITTLE people are identifying as intersex!! I have seen more folks with immense amounts of unmistakable evidence towards being intersex and being completely unaware of it OR being seriously hesitant to identify as such (almost undoubtedly because of this systemically-intersexist gatekeeping artificially deflating the numbers), than I have folks who may have picked up the intersex label for questionable reasons!

#yeah like it took me a long while to fully use the intersex label cuz 'technically pcos/pmos isnt a variant'#and i didnt feel 'intersex enough' but like. ???? im growing facial hair and have clitoromegaly and a deep voice for a presumed afab person #wdym i didnt think i was intersex enough 😭#intersexness is also a huge ass spectrum anyways and not every person has a diagnosable variant #its not just a medical identity its a genuine queer identity #and i feel so validated for being apart of this community tbh #me intersex!!!
