Literally just learned of Daveigh Chase's passing and am absolutely heartbroken. She was a part of my childhood, not only because of Lilo & Stitch, but primarily because of Samara Morgan.

The Ring was my real introduction to the world of horror media as a kid. Without Samara, I wouldn't have become such a huge horror buff. Without Daveigh's performance, I wouldn't be the person I am today. She helped shape me as an individual through that movie and it remains one of my favorite films ever.

I've seen her quote about not wanting her work to feel meaningless, and wishing what she did changed people's lives. Well, she's certainly changed mine, and I'll forever be grateful for that. Horror media makes my life, so tainted by depression and anxiety, a little bit brighter, and I would most certainly be in an even worse place if not for Samara Morgan being the biggest reason I got into the genre.

Rest in peace, Daveigh Chase. You deserved so much better than what this shit world handed you, and you'll forever be infinitely more relevant, important and worthy of respect than the people who let you get into this situation. I truly hope you're in a much better place than here, and thank you for all the fond memories, from the bottom of my heart.
