ass-backwards [ap].

the grunt blinks rather owlishly at the red-gloss wrapped square brimming with milk-confections, surprised that someone would bother giving him chocolate. he normally preferred giving rather than receiving anything, so it felt awkward just accepting the treat; from a stranger no less. but, then again, it was valentine’s day… a day lyle still did not know how to feel about. his parents did not bother with pity candy, only for halloween maybe since he was always too sick to really leave his room.

he’d figured she’d get a response like that. A & B were more the ‘hang around and look kinda goofy’ type of grunts, but they were all the way back on Melemele - the grunts probably got more serious closer to home base.

Which obviously meant she’d have to be careful if she didn’t want to get hurt. She’s just here to explore, after all - not to get into fights with everyone who so much as glances at her.

“Can I just… look around? Instead of sniffing? All the Team Skull guys I’ve met so far have been kinda mean but I like your guys’ outfits!!” She’s here for a Skull Top. That’s it. She most certainly does have her priorities straight, thank you very much.

“..boss doesn’t like uninvited guests.” lyle all but sighs with a lazy tilt of his head, as if he’s use to repeating such things to strangers quite often; which he was. it was kind of ridiculous, but what could he do? 

& if they really wanted to get technical & into all the boring nitty-gritty, she was trespassing on their turf, although they had sort of barged their misfit ways into po town themselves. regardless, he’d get in trouble just letting her do as she pleased, despite her clear lack of ill intent. 

Of course he would be woken up by one of the grunts. It was inevitable, wasn’t it? At least this one actually wanted to see if they needed anything. He’ll give him points for that.

That didn’t make him any less cranky, however. It was evident when the grunt could then hear a shuffle and a stomp as he got out of his lovely resting place.

“… Yeah. I’m comin’ with ya. Got nothing better to do.”

lyle didn’t actually think that guzma would tag along. at all. it sort of spooked him, because it was more or less.. grunt work. not something the boss should bother with. but he wouldn’t tell the older male no, to dare try & steer him away. lyle physically could not even form the words, before nervously swallowing them down like a dry pill.  

this was.. fine. he could handle it. totally.

get them while they are hot. accepting. 

“I-I can’t help it.” the grunt all but painfully whines between clenched teeth, trying not to lean too heavily on the other as he curls into himself. one day if his shitty immune system didn’t kill him, lyle was sure his nerves undoubtedly would do him in. but it was nice that cass had been willing to listen to lyle’s rather dumb woes, especially since the grunt had cried for a good half & hour during his rambling, reduced to wet sniffles now. it was a simple problem to most, but a huge inconvenience to lyle himself. 

“but th-thanks.” lyle is sure he’s feverish now by how he’s exhausted himself, but he acts on a sudden whim & slides their hot n cold hands together, only to place a weak kiss on the back of other’s hand in appreciation, puffy eyes slanted near closed as he does so. pink lingers on the freckled bridge of his nose. his breathing seems to have slowed away from rattled hiccups.
