what noelle is experiencing is a psychotic episode, much closer to mania where she believes (unfortunately correctly where as irl this would be a Delusion) that if kris keeps telling her to proceed then she Cannot Actually Die. this is not a suicide attempt this is a belief in invincibility via kris. she does this attempt to escape the confines of the game by dragging kris in the water with her as a sort of double dog dare situation where it Forces Kris To Keep Going and prove her right or they will both die. so there is no Choice but to proceed (so she thinks).

it's just that she is actually right about all this so they manage to clip through the lake into the late game.
