I definitely agree. He has multiple characteristics of a slytherin, and in my opinion he and riddle are very much alike. I think the main reason he chose Gryffindor was because he lacked bravery and thought being in the house would teach him to be.
sorry this took me so long, I've been so lazy today. but yeah, I think that could be part of it as well. because in his mind he would've seen that he already had basically all of the qualities of Slytherin and the necessary ones of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, but bravery was still something he needed.

Oh man that’s totally my new headcanon, his strategy and cunning is very Slytherin. Although, he didn’t strive for power, which is interesting. Not that he didn’t want it though, but that he even actively refused it to avoid temptation.
tbh his temptation for power is one of the things I could probably write an essay on about why he chose not to and what influenced that but I'll spare you lol. but yes, I totally think he would've been Slytherin if he let the Sorting Hat do its thing and not intervened.
also one of these days
I totally wanna make/play a verse in which Dumbles never got in a smack down with Gellert and the wizarding world is basically a dystopia and he's one of the rulers with many regrets but he got the power he craves and

I'm so on the train of "Dumbledore should've been Slytherin"
I have feelings for you that can’t be explained any other way…the only conclusion was love.

Is it terrible that while writing morally skewed characters I'm at more ease than those aligned for good? ooops I love playing Loki lol
nah omg. I feel that tbh. I oftentimes relate to those characters more anyway. but I still highly disagree with them which makes things difficult bc the whole time you're just sitting there like "you're so wrong about this that it's actually painful"
“Maybe I do deserve all the pain I’m in.” -- Yes, you do. You totally do, Dumbles
agreed tbh
Maybe I do deserve all the pain I’m in.

the problem with writing morally skewed characters is you sit there cringing like 80% of the time at how utterly wrong they are

We trusted you; absolutely, unwaveringly, blindly. And in turn, you withheld information which would have kept some of us alive. How can you justify that to yourself?
Truth Serum- my muse has to answer everything truthfully, regardless of what it is.
"While there are certain things that I would still keep from you to this very day, if the choice were once more mine to make, the truth you shall have. I cannot, in good conscience, justify that to myself nor can I, in honesty, to anyone that may ask. It is a mistake that I regret, yet continued to make for the g r e a t e r g o o d."
