there she goes again, daydreaming about her future house and how she’ll decorate it knowing she can’t afford a house in this economy ever. and by she i mean me.

Motivation is overrated. No amount of motivation would’ve gotten me through hours of my accounting textbook. No “vision” is enough to keep me awake til the crack of dawn on an essay that I don’t even know if the professor will check. Discipline is what determines how far you go. On those days when your cute little list of #goals and vision of yourself 5 years from now aren’t enough, discipline will pull you out of bed and get you to work. I wish I knew this in high school because I thought I couldn’t work without motivation. I wasted so much time trying to find purpose before I realized that working now, albeit blindly, will ensure that I could chase any purpose I discover in the future. Sure, motivation is crucial, but it’s not consistent. It’s not reliable. You can only rely on yourself and your grit. 

can i be real for a second? can i be sincere? can i be fucking earnest for one moment? nothing is more important than the human proclivity for storytelling.

I don’t think we take enough time to appreciate the periods in our life when our noses aren’t runny. Is your nose runny right now? No? Think about that. Honestly reflect on it. Enjoy this era of peace. There are dark times on the horizon

The fact that Fury had a pager to call Captain Marvel this entire time is so funny to me because Carol said it was “for emergencies only” and Fury took that so seriously that there was a literal alien invasion led by a Norse god and then an AI determined to wipe out all of humanity and he was just like: “We’re probably fine. I think my team can handle this. No need to call Carol, she’s busy. I don’t want to bother her”.
