🔪 NO MERCY

*  “  Need  die  ?  ”

*  “  Welcome  back  to  MY  STORY  ANIMATED.    This  is  the  story  of  how  I  murdered  a  whole  world  and  then  destroyed  it  !  ”

Aqua stands after they take the bar, feeling a slight relief that they’re at least getting some food. If nothing else, it’s reassuring that they’ll have… something. The nights, though, were getting colder, and she knew it.

I have a home. Aqua hears this and closes her eyes a moment. What had them out in the cold like this, most assuredly not dressed for it? If they had a home, it wasn’t a very good one, in her opinion. Hands momentarily balled to fists, but relaxed almost as quickly as they’d clenched.

“It doesn’t have to be anything more than a warm meal and a blanket… I can bring you back to your home after.” I just don’t want you to freeze.

*     They  fall  quiet  for  a  long  time,  arms  tightening  around  the  plush  they  hold  so  tightly  to  their  chest.    The  bar  is  tucked  beneath  it,  saved  for  a  bit  later,  and  with  how  much  their  features  twist  and  twitch,  they’re  obviously  considering  it  properly  before  their  shoulders  seem  to  relax  somewhat  and  they  nod  in  defeat.

*     IT’D  BE  NICE.     JUST  THIS  ONCE.

*  “  Okay  .  .  .  ”

Concern crosses the young woman’s expression, brows furrowing and hands coming together before her. The kid before her… said they were hungry. She knelt, reaching into the small bag she’d had over her back.

She wasn’t just going to leave them here. Out she pulled the last of her day’s snacks- a relatively unpleasant granola bar Aqua had no desire to eat herself.

“Here. If you want… I can take you to somewhere to get some food and warm up.” She offered the bar, as well as a very small smile. The worry she felt couldn’t hide.

*     They  don’t  usually  find  it  in  them  to  bother  others,  knowing  it’s  on  them  alone  to  find  a  way  to  survive,  but  this  is  one  of  those  days  where  they  can’t  handle  it.    It’s  just  so  cold,  and  finding  any  food  whether  it  be  from  the  trash  or  some  leftovers  that  restaurant  chefs  are  willing  to  part  with  .  .  .     It’s  harder  during  this  time  of  the  year.

*     They  stare  at  the  bar  when  it’s  offered,  carefully  taking  it  with  a  nod  and  a  quiet  ‘thank  you’,  though  they  seem  visibly  hesitant  about  the  following  offer.

*  “  .  .  .    That’s  .  .  .     I  don’t  know  .  .  .     I  have  a  home  .  .  .  ”

*  “  I’m...    hungry...  ”
