     he  takes  a  moment  ,  silent  ,  just  studying  kisol’s  face  with  a  shy  smile.     “     okay.     ”     and  he  closes  what  little  gap  they  have  between  them  ,  slotting  their  lips  together.

     he  doesn’t  realize  he’s  been  holding  his  breath  until  he  has  to  force  himself  to  inhale.  his  affirmative  nod  is  ungraceful  ,  not  quite  making  eye contact.     “     can-can  i  kiss  you     ?     ”   

     he  exhales  ,  leans  forward  the slightest  ,  letting their noses touch.  his  thumb  brushes  over  the  corner  of  his  lips.     “     and...  and  what  do  we  say  about  where  we  went     ?     what’s  the  king  going  to  do     ?     he  won’t  be  able  to  stop  the  people  who  want  you  gone.     ”

     hand  lingers  on  the  side  of  kisol’s  face  ,  touch  feather  light.     “     but  you’ll  have  guards  there  to  protect  you.     ”     he  leans  his  head  forward  ,  pressing  their  foreheads  together.     “     i’m  sure  me  telling  the  king     ‘     hey  so  your  son’s  life  is  in  danger  and  also  i  was  supposed  to  assassinate  him     ’     will  go  over  very  well.     ”

  he  doesn’t  open  his eyes  ,  wanting  to  stay  in  this  moment  as  long  as  possible  before  this  too  is  taken  from  him.     “     i  don’t  want  to  leave  you  ,  but  tell  me  what  else  we  can  possibly  do.  because  we  can’t  live  out  here  forever.  you’ll  get  sick  of  me  eventually  or  the  royal  search  parties  will  find  us  and  then  parade  my  head  around  on  a  stick.  we  can’t  continue  to  run.  your  face  is  recognizable.     ”     at  this  ,  he  pulls  his  head  back  to  look  at  him.     “     like  you  said  ,  you’re  the  crown  prince.  you  have  to  return.     ”

      call  silver  predictable  ,  because  he  does  just  that  ,  swatting  harmlessly  at  his  arm.     “     not  cute.  i’m  an  assassin  and  now  apparently  a  kidnapper.  cuddling  you  feels  like  i’m  close  to  death.     ”     he  could  already  tell  that  sleep  was  going  to  be  difficult  ,  mind  already  rushing  to  create  possible  next  steps  to  take.  silver  forces  his  eyes  shut  ,  moving  closer  to  throw  a  leg  over  his  as  well  ,  burying  his  face  in  the  crook  of  his  neck.     “     you’re  going  to  have  to  go  back  eventually...  there’s  nowhere  we  can  possibly  hide  you.     ”

     “     if  you’re  so  cold  ,  maybe  don’t  shed  your  layers.     ”     he  teases.     “    give  me  a  second  ,  okay     ?     ”     silver  stands  ,  unbuckling  harnesses  that  strap  weapons  to  his  body  ,  placing  them  carefully  on  top  of  the  dresser.  he  really  should  clean  the  blades  ,  but  exhaustion  was  starting  to  set  in.  hand  picks  up  kisol’s  discarded  sweatshirt  and  pulls  it  on.  if  kisol  wasn’t  going  to  take  advantage  of  having  layers  ,  he  will.     “     move.     ”     he  climbs  under  the  covers  next  to  him  ,  throwing  an  arm  over  kisol’s  waist.

he  squeezes  kisol’s  hand  a  bit  harshly,  digging  blunt  nails  into  the  flesh  of  his  palm.  “i’m  not  scared  of  anything.”  except  a  situation  like  this.  silver  wraps  the  wound  neatly  with  proper  padding  and  gauze.  “your  hand  should  be fine.”  he  holds  on  to  his  hand  for  a  minute  too  long  before  letting  go  of  it  and  taking  a  seat  beside  him.  “you  must  be  tired.”

“are  you  sure?  this’ll  sting  anyway.”  he  unwraps  the  makeshift  bandage  and  cleans  the  wound  with  a  proper  antiseptic.  “oh...”  eyes  flick  to  the  bed  kisol’s  sitting  on.  “we  don’t  have  to.  i  don’t  mind  taking  the floor.  there’s  more  than  enough  blankets.”
