Tranquilas, ‘feministas’ locales.

I need to start drawing more so here’s some educational pictures. How to draw various parts of the body/clothes.
Whoo, super long nose tutorial! I’m sure there’s heaps I didn’t mention in this but this is generally how I approach it - the main thing is to check out references and try and draw different noses, it’ll help you create more diverse characters and have fun with it without being afraid of drawing the nose (since it’s genuinely one of my favourite things to draw).

Here is my piece for the amazing Animation Art Show in Dublin ! Be sure to be there on April 17th :D
anyone from japan that can help me buy tickets (for the ghibli museum and two concerts)??? D: im desperate here
ahhh ok. all in one step-by-step cause yeah. also i must add that drawing has practically become somewhat intuitive for me so i might not be able to explain the technicalities in great detail. this is just a simple step-by-step.
how to a face:
1. draw an ellipse. obviously
2. take the 1/3 (give or take) topmost part and add a horizontal line. this will guide you where to put eyes. then add a vertical line and split the ellipse into equal parts. this will be the nose guide and basically keeps everything to a nice symmetry
3. add the eyes and other stuff. you know what stuff; you’ve seen ‘em. you have 'em.
4. you can use the width of the eye to set the length of the nose and the space between both eyes. these are roughly of the same length. the ears are a bit longer. the top of the ears is roughly the same level with the eyes
5. i use a top light most often. it’s like a shortcut and i fucking love it. under this kind of light, shade will usually occur under the eyes, nose, lips, cheekbones, and basically other recesses of the face
faces vary a great deal (like noses) and these measurements are only a rough guide. not always applicable but it helps make a nice, even face.
how to shade a face: let’s draw a hiddleston while we’re at it because why not.
1-2. draw a face (from the basic step-by-step up there). i use the basic round PS brush, hard edge, 30% opacity
3. still drawing that face? great. we’re getting somewhere here. don’t stop now. add hair
4. add a tone and basic shading. below the nose, lips, brows, especially those fucking cheekbones. you don’t want to forget those cheekbones
5. add highlight (just pick the whitest white and add drops of white to the most prominent parts of the face)
6. blend, blend, BLEND. use the darkest shade to add details. picking colors (eyedropper tool) should be easy since you’re working on monotone. MONOTONE HELPS. if you have photo-lens eyes good for you and you shouldn’t be reading this step-by-step in the first place. go away. i hate you
“but wants,” you ask, “how much higlight should i use?” well, excellent question, imaginary person! the amount basically correlates to how much you want the skin to shine. sweaty skin and parts where the skin is stretched more taut, like the forehead, top of the brows, the ball of the nose, and top of the cheek, shine the most. usually typical human skin is a balanced act. not too shiny, not too dull. basically 'dewy’ would be a good median.
slap an 'overlay’ layer for the colors. self-explanatory
add blush to add that sun-kissed look. blood usually pools in extremities, so this means tip of the ears and nose. blush is usually reserved for the forehead, cheeks, and chin.
congrats, you just drawn a hiddles.
hope that helps!
10 part compilation of quick little tutorial on how to draw people, realistic or more cartoony, or pretty much anatomical. Hope this helps some people out there!
