Staring at her sneakers, Lily wondered what she had done to deserve such a friend. She had thought that it’d be so awkward talking to him about it, and especially telling him what exactly had been going on in her mind, but it wasn’t hard. Yes, it was a little hesitant, but had this been any other person, the conversation would have never gone so smoothly. There was just this something about Remus Lupin that made everything better, and made her feel lighter and wholesome. A smile on her face at the thoughts, she tied up the shoes and grabbing her bag, set out for the mall. She had promised him that she’d make coffee and food for him because she thought he deserved a day off where he didn’t have to worry about food, and could just relax without a care in the world. Because that’s what friends do for each other, right? Buying everything she needed to in the mall, she had already made an idea of what she was going to make for him.
Arriving at his doorstep, she rung the doorbell as she looked down on herself, waiting for him to open up. Cladded in her usual black and red striped shirt with a pair of jeans, she smiled when the door opened. “Because you didn’t, Sir. You didn’t order food, you ordered for the cook.” Lily commented, and shoving past him, entered the apartment. For a second it brought back rather miserable emotions of St. Patrick’s night, but she ignored it, two big bags in her hand from all she’d purchased in the mall and setting them down on his kitchen table.
“I must have forgotten. Possibly you just went to knock on the wrong door though.” Remus said as Lily rushed past him, carrying her load of bags. With a laugh, Remus went in aswell and closed the door before stepping quickly behind Lily, reaching out for the food she's been carrying. “Hey, hey, let me hel-” Being ignored, Remus heaved a sigh, turned in a circle and then simply decided to follow her to his kitchen where she was already setting down the supplies.
He went on the table-side opposite to his friend and leaned over the furniture to be able to look into one of the bags. “You know, I'm looking forward to this dinner.” He placed his hands on top of a chair, his gaze still fixed on the bag as he shook his head. “It wasn't necessary to buy such loads though, look, just tell me how much you've paid and I'll get you back on this. Do you need any help over here, I'd be glad to give you a hand.” Knowing that Lily originally planned on not even letting him into the kitchen, Remus figured it couldn't hurt that much to ask if he could be a help of some sort, feeling uncomfortable just sitting down when she was working so hard on creating a nice meal for both of them.
