Back when I reached my 1k follower milestone I celebrated by putting together a collection of no CC in-game hairs for the decades of the 1920s to the 1990s (part one here and part two here). Now that I have reached my 7k follower milestone I wanted to take that concept to the next level. Presenting the first post in the CC Free Century series. Over the coming months I'll be sharing lookbooks from the 1900s to the 1990s that use only in-game CAS assets, alongside some brief historical context for each of the decades. I hope you enjoy this sartorial journey through fashion history!

The start of the 20th century saw women's fashion from the 1890s carry over into the new decade. The iconic S-shape silhouette was still in vogue and modesty was a key component of a lady's wardrobe. Day dresses and blouses featured high necklines and full sleeves, with excess fabric helping to emphasise the fashionable top heavy style of the time. While bodies were initially moulded into shape thanks to highly structured corsetry, by the late 1900s the simplification and loosening of dress that would come to define the decade began to appear. It's the first version, so for now there's only Oasis Springs. I'll update it every time I add a new world. I know it took much longer than I said it will, but I kept adding characters and optimizing it for better experience. Anyway, after 4 years of work, it's finally here 😌

The concept was to build lore like it was done in the sims 2 and 3, but from scratch and without reusing already existing characters from the series. There are completely new families created with the same depth. Every world has a different theme (just like it was with Pleasantview, Strangetown, Midnight Hollow etc). There are a few bigger stories that include most residents from one world (like it was with disappearance of Bella Goth) and then there are stories that connect households from different worlds. Besides that, each household member has their own story and given a starting point for you to make a decision when you start gameplay. I found that earlier games felt more interesting because the game guided you in which direction you should go, so I tried to recreate that. I also did my best for it to actually have consequences and playtested dynamics/different scenarios. Except from things stated in household bios, I added smaller side-stories or expanded a few backstories that you can only discover if you play the household and actually deep dive. Everything takes place in the 90s - outfits and builds are inspired by this era, but because it's hard to find stuff like this, you'll probably see some early 2000s inspiration too lmao.

THIS SAVE FILE IS NOT CC FREE. You need it or all sims will be bald and deformed. I made pdf with all the download instructions. Please read it before downloading. Even if you have downloaded my sims before - read it, because I made a few changes.

I made a post going in detail about each world and families. Bios in game are short and only used as a reminder of what the household is about. To get the whole context and read the full household biographies, see links below.

I used all packs and kits, but it's used mostly for builds, so it shouldn't be a big problem - missing objects will be replaced.

DISCLAIMER:

It's still a work in progress. Sims in "other households" are either NPCs or townies from different worlds that will get an actual family when the world they come from will be added. For now, they are treated as a background characters to add depth to Oasis residents. For this reason, they don't have bios and have only basic features added to them. I might also slightly change their looks in the future updates.

Not all service NPCs are done, I will make an update with them because I want them to have background and think it through.

If a sim is mentioned, they exist. I just haven't made them yet and they will come with the future updates. For that reason not everyone has a lot of people they know - it will change when I add new characters.

Each sim has skills, careers, relationships, sentiments, lifestyles, reputation, milestones, likes and dislikes and turn ons/offs, fears, custom voices, etc. All the basic things.

7 new, unique clubs - some are actual clubs to meet and do stuff, some are used as social circles, etc. Each club description gives you something to start from, some include lore hints. More to come in the future updates.

Say hello to the new boy in town

The middle of the 1700s was dense with military conflict - the Jacobite Rising, King George's War, French & Indian War, and Seven Years War to name just a few. The advent of military uniforms in the late 17th century saw even further growth due to these conflicts. Armies now had distinct military garb, as did the ranks within them. As for the fashion side of historical costuming - while France maintained its internationally renowned reputation for ostentatious Rococo extravagance, England and America adhered to the more subdued Georgian standards of dress.

Banyans became popular for men to wear in the comfort of their own home as a form of undress or déshabillé. These dressing gowns were roomy t-shaped garments and those with wealth donned banyans made from extravagant brocade decorated with fruits and florals. One quirky influence upon fashion was the Commedia Dell'Arte, a theatrical form with origins in Italy. The colourful, distinctive costumes of the performers were widely depicted in art and were frequently worn by non-performers for masquerade, which in and of itself was a rising cultural phenomenon in the 1700s.
